This is a pretty good HowTo guide for unlocking and jailbreaking an iPhone 3G using QuickPwn 2.2 for Windows and installing the yellowsn0w unlock from Cydia. It covers the 2.2 firmware, which is current for unlocking.

i just tried jailbreaking my iphone 3g 2.2.1 using pwnage and it didnt work. my computer wont even recognize my phone now and im freaking out alittle bit. someone please help!

boot in DFU mode... hold power and home button for 5 seconds, then let go of power button but keep pressing the home button. then you can restore it in itunes

So does yellowSnow work on iPhone 3G with the lastet version 2.2.1 modem firmware 2.30.03?
A friend of mine is planning on buying one outright from apple and i know they usually come loaded with the lastest firmware out of the box."Search" is your friend

When 2.2 came out they said to avoid it but the that was the version the Dev team cracked. Follow the guides you've linked to and you'll be fine.

What is the difference bt pwnage tool and quickpwn? I came to this conclusion altough I may be wrong
Pwnage Tool is for Mac's
Quickpwn is for PC
