Yes - I use the iPhone on 3G/HSDPA very successfully on T-Mobile as do many other people.
If, however, you are referring to T-Mobile in the USA then 'not for the foreseeable future' is probably a better answer.
T-Mobile in the USA use 1700Mhz for 3G as opposed to everywhere else where they use 2100Mhz which is the same as AT&T. To get the iPhone to work on 1700Mhz would involve a hardware change which Apple are unlikely to make as they have an exclusive deal with AT&T in the USA until at least 2010 (0r 2012 - I'm not sure which). He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

Iphone 3g 2.2.01 stuck in recovery mode after trying to restore to firmware 2.2. I installed the newest version for itunes but still get error 1013.

For those of us who have firmware model 02.30.03, what should we do? is there any way to set it back to 02.28.00? Or do we just wait for the latest yellowsnow?

Musclenerds Kommentar
Brief description: The 0.9.8 release changed things only related to exit from airplane mode and wi-fi. It changes nothing with the yellowsn0w payload itself or the injection vector or the baseband version.
Alternate brief description: The 0.9.8 release has everything to do with boring application-side libraries and nothing to do with the underlying exploit itself.
Longer description: The 0.9.6 version worked for many but it had a hard-coded address for the airplane mode call. The hard-coded address changes depending on FW version (2.2 vs 2.2.1 so far). The 0.9.7 version tried to make it universal and applicable across all future updates. Although it worked for most people, it did have the side effect of keeping wi-fi off after the toggle. The 0.9.8 version fixes that at the expense of going back to hard-coded addresses. That affects us more than you
