I finally got it to work Im in USA T-Mobile user, after I went through all the steps I took out the sim card and put in a ATT sim card and then waited like 30 seconds and then took it out and put in my T-Mobile sim card and then it started working, if not reboot it and it def work, but turn off first by holding the home and power button at the same time and then wait a minute after the phone turns off and then turn it back on.

The card that you want will have 5 sets of numbers on top of each other, with a vertical number next to them that will say something like 37.01a or something similar. It has to be earlier/lower than 39.01 or it will be pointless to get the card

* Test:
I have read all 51 posts, and my is the 52nd post.
I followed all the instructions and my iPhone 3G never worked with T-Mobile!!!
I tried all possible solutions mentioned in all posts.
I tried on the followings:
1 x 16GB iPhone 3G White 2.2
1 x 16GB iPhone 3G Black 2.2
3 x 8GB iPhones 3G Black 2.2
7 x T-Mobile SIM cards

* Result:
All failed (No Service, Invalid SIM, no signal, etc...)
Except one "PARTIALLY" worked (incoming call ok, but outgoing call always fails, plus sometimes freezes up my iphone, plus, after reboot, I have to redo all the "unpleasant" steps again in order to get signal...)

* Conclusion:
yellowsn0w 9.4 is NOT working properly yet.

I also had the same problems but on my iphone I went to SETTINGS/GENERAL/RESET/RESET ALL SETTINGS
This method actually worked for me. I mentioned it earlier and it seems that no one else gave me any feed back. When I followed the instructions my phone failed every single time with no signal or invalid sim. I kept resetting NETWORK SETTINGS and kept coming up with the same results. While looking through all the settings I noticed after installing and uninstalling YellowSn0w over and over again in SETTINGS/GENERAL/ABOUT screen it still had AT&T as the network after installing my Philippine Globe sim and USA T-Mobile sim. After I went to SETTINGS/GENERAL/RESET/RESET ALL SETTINGS and reset all settings it finally picked up on both T-mobile and Globe Philippines sim. I'm thinking there were some residual settings that was never removed with installing YellowSn0w. Someone else try it and tell me if it works for you guys. Good Luck!

I tried damn near every suggestion on here and in other blogs, SBSsettings, BOSSPREFS, mobile terminal, etc etc etc....none of them worked

I'm in California but I'm traveling to the Philippines on monday and was trying to unlock this before I go there. I finally got it to work for me. Sorry it didn't work for you. I thought I found the solution. I hope the next version helps you out. You can also try to do the flight mode thing also after doing the reset all settings thing. I used the flight mode to swap from different sim cards to try it out.

UPDATE FOR ME::::::

I F'd up my iPhone playing around trying to customize and had to finally resort to restoring, re-jailbraking, etc...

Well now, I can't do anything. I can't even get signal bars to show up.

So I go from earlier today (and yes I had updated to the new yellowsnow and could text and receive calls) being able to do everything but make calls, to now not being able to do a damned thing.

WTF?!?!?!?

******EDIT*****

Got it working again...WHEWWWWWW....still can't make calls :*(

I decided when I go see the wife tomorrow I will pick up a turbo sim v2.2 so I can make phone calls until the dev team works out the kinks with their sh*t

There is a bug or unprepared aspect of yellowsn0w, newer SIM cards have issues with outgoing calls.. a signal never even leaves... the daemon has issues with these SIMs and thus loss of reception. Dev team plans to fix this issue, patience and they'll have an update

and if you really can't wait, downgrade your SIM card, call T-Mobile and have them transfer your account to an older version SIM

iPhone 3G unlock (getting carrier to read)

For anyone who is having a problem getting the carrier to read with the new 3G unlock....try this:

take out sim card (iPhone on)
reinsert it
click airplane mode on then off
it should now say "searching" at the top left
now it should read your carrier

it worked perfectly for me

Yeah. That tip has been around for some time...

So anyway, I was out tonight and made the grave mistake of trying to make a call and lost signal. Spent about half an hour in the parking lot resetting network, rebooting, popping the sim, and going into airplane mode to no avail (on .91 yellowsn0w). It's the third time my phone lost signal when I forgetfully made a call and I spent too much time trying to get it back. Once I got home and grabbed some wifi, I updated to .94 and decided what the hell let's see how difficult it is to regain signal. Surprisingly, with .94 all it takes is a reboot + popping sim and I get my signal back in 1 try. Great job dev team with this update! (Still no outgoing calls though)

with .94 u should only have to switch airplane mode on and off, no need to pop out the sim.

Looks like when you get into an area with no signal it won't regain signal immediately. I went into settings and clicked on Carrier, it searched and found T-Mobile I clicked on it and my service came back on.
