for me wat i did to make it work is putting my tmobile sim into my 2g phone so it can pick up tmobile network then put the tmobile sim back into my 3g. Everything works fine except calling out and when i tried to call someone i lost all signals and have to redo the whole process again.

this site is a worldwide site. i don't want to pigeon hole all of you into the stereotypical view of americans but after reading this thread entirely, the world seems to have declared the 3g unlock as a success, whilst t-mobile USA customers with new sim cards have deemed it "not ready for public use" and "fail".

Think outside of the US guys! There is a world of happy people with unlocked iPhones around you. Don't spam with selfish posts!

To finish - works perfect with Orange UK no problems on 16GB iPhone 3G after using the pwnagetool as opposed to quickpwn. no signal after using quickpwn here....

Testing carrier in Central America.

- After several tries, I finally got the Carrier to Show up, full Bars. When I tried making a call, I got a "Call forwarding message" I got the tone and then it hung up and I lost all my signall bars, but the carrier is still showing.

Any ideas?

I still don't understand one thing. In most of the countries everything works. The Dev-Team practised their unlock on T-Mobile USA. How is it possible that we have a lot of problems with this network...

as the dev team consists of members from around the world im sure they don't solely test a worldwide 3g unlock only on the t-mobile usa carrier.

i just unlocked my phone and everything works texting, receiving calls but i cant make any calls out. i can even dial a number, end a call or do anything on that menu..please help

If I walk into some Walmart/BestBuy store pick a new iPhone 3G 16 Gigs for $289 :P and come back home and if I don't want to Activate and pay the charges .. Can this be done?

This means , If I buy a brand new iPhone 3G and I do not wish to activate it and pay the crap Monthly Charge can yellowsn0w sim unlock be done?

First of all can an Unactivated iPhone 3G be jailbroken? If yes then we can connect via Wi-Fi to Install Yellowsn0w and Unlock it .

Tell me if that is possible.

darn. i just had it working. and now it stopped. i had to restart the phone. and now it's tripping out. i can't even get service. it says no service. sad. tsk tsk.

go to cydia and pick manage...then sources...then add the source that is on the first page of this forum (click the link) then search for yellosn0w

Umm I'm from Boston but in Hong Kong for Christmas break at the moment. Yellowsn0w is not working on my AT&T locked iPhone 3G, carrier CSL. I also see a lot of failures from German users who have posted on the iphone dev blog.

this REALLY sucks.. restored to 2.2 quickpwned. cydia - yellowsn0w. Can't pick up any service so now I'm screwed. ALSO when I try to do airplane mode, it will be "searching" for maybe .2 seconds and then go back no bars. AHHH

Im referring to this site and the posts in this thread deeming yellowsn0w a "fail". This is extremely misleading to readers from practically every country except america (t-mobile) customers.

This site is a WORLDWIDE community. It's not fair that yellowsn0w is tainted as a "fail" when it has also been succesful around the globe.

The dev-team didn't hide that it's in beta and anyone with brains would have held off for a day or so to let things cool over, like with new firmwares etc etc.

Just sucks to be t-mobile USA ..... for now

HAHAHHAHA ok i got back from the store and decided to give it one more shot. After following the steps listed several times here i had quit for the night but like i said after i got back i just wanted to try again.

I inserted the sim, waited a few mins, airplane mode on/off and nothing... rebooted via Boss, waited several mins(4-5 ish) did airplane mode on/off and it actually said searching!!!!

before it was only flashing searching and then it'd go to dots, this time it stayed up there saying searching, BAM full signal. i've made a 10 min phone call so far. received phone calls, Sent/received text messages. Edge works, wireless works.

Everything works that i know of and i've not lost service so far.

EDIT: forgot to add to this post, i'm USA T-Mobile. Everything is still working just when i reboot from installing apps sometimes i have to go do te airplane mode again but it works flawlessly other than that !!
