I know the iPhone's 3G's spectrum is for ATT and other international carriers.. but wasn't it mentioned that the 3G chipset on the iPhone was capable of T-Mobile's spectrum? So it's not physically impossible, just software wise it's disabled?

This is AWESOME news for everyone with 2.28.00 baseband! I'm lucky to have 2.11 baseband for both my iPhone 3G's, but I'm glad to hear this because it means we can update to 2.2 Firmware AND then unlock, right?

(One quick question, jailbreaking for 2.2 is only available for WinPwn which is for Mac only right?)

You can use quickpwn to jailbreak 2.2 win or os x. Or you can use Pwnage tool for OS X.

^^
Winpwn is for Windows as you can tell from the "win" part obviously. Winpwn as far as I knw has not been updated in ages to work on 2.2.

Quickpwn and Pwnage tool are for Mac. QP is also for windows

Sorry about that lol, the alcohol is already getting to me I guess. :P

I did mean Pwnage Tool.

So QuickPwn was updated to Jailbreak 2.2 on Windows? Sweet! I'm going to update then, since baseband won't matter now.

Very nice. I'm looking forward to the release to see the outcomes. I'm on contract with AT&T, so I won't need it now, but if I decided to sell, it will certainly help.

This is the greatest Christmas gift ever! Probably the best gift I have ever received I just wonder if I will have to restore to unlock my phone. Either way this is a great treat for all us iPhone 3G owners.

Happy New Year to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok...tell me if this is a stupid question, but would a software mod enable the iPhone 3G service to work on the T-Mobile 3G network?
