He answered it right in his first post it has to do with the "iPhone" name being copyrighted so he had to change it for legal reasons or this site wouldn't be able to exist and like you said modmyi sounds pretty cool.

In response to Dale 1v, I had a message removed by Apple on their discussion board. I in jest suggested that iphone owner that had the same problem with the digitizer going bad pelt the persons at the iphone store with said phones. Could no take a joke.
