Im not sure why alot of people are excited. Unlock the phone and use it with T-Mobile here in the U.S. , the 3G is not compatible, so it's going to be like having a 2G phone, except with a very slow GPS

Very slow gps? Maybe your phone is defective because my gps works great. Also there's people out there (like me for instance) who NEVER EVER EVER!!!! use anything internet related on the iphone unless on wifi (with the exception of texting and MMSing of course, but messages send and receive in no time. So This unlock is a great thing for people like me.
The funny thing about 3G for me is that I live in an edge network area, there is absolutely no 3G available within a 50 mile radius of where I live. I highly doubt we'll have 3G available here anytime soon where I live so even if I did want to use the internet on 3G I wouldn't be able to regardless unless I travel 45 minutes from my home. For some reason that doesn't sound like it would be worth it.

SWEET! I can't wait!
I'm still on the original firmware 2.0 baseband: v 1.45.00 because I wanted to make sure I can unlock this phone later.
What iPhone firmware is baseband v 2.11 in?

You will be able to unlock if you are at least 2.1 or below (maybe they will do 2.2, not likely though).
That is provided you didn't use custom firmware that doesn't change your baseband. If you did, you are alright even if you are on 2.2 because your iPhone is basically a 2.2 iPhone with a 2.1 baseband.

I have baseband 2.28.00. Now, I have read and yes I saw it only works on much earlier versions. Now, my iPhone is quite new and ive only just sorted out my contract to actually include internet browsing... So my question is, should I just go ahead and jailbreak it now, and hopefully a newer version of yellowsn0w will be released to unlock my baseband version? Or to have any hope should I ideally be sticking with the vanilla 2.2 firmware from iTunes?

sucks for us Tmobile users. I can't believe the dev team actually got it done..well i can but for the fact no one but At&t users can use it. Well tmobile users can but thats what the 1st generation iphones are for. Why buy a phone u can't get the full capability of? just to be cool? I understand the At&T users who want to use prepaid but don't u have to get the phone first? either way its a good and bad with anything and the bad affects tmobile users. Good job tho dev team..hell of a job
