My question is still... How much without the contract?

Waste... Just pay the extra for a new one!

refurbs not available to existing customers online! they do not come up as an option when upgrading an exisitng line. Cust. Serv tried to connect me to telesales to complete my order but my wait time was >45minutes. not sure if onslaught of ppl trying to buy this one or others. You can view it through their site, but can only buy (for now) if you are a new customer. They didnt add it as an option for those who already have service and want to upgrade. And that $50 dollar savings goes a long way. I for one a partial towards refurbs. they get more rigorously tested to make sure that they are functioning properly vs. one that comes off the line and is expected to be right.

Personally I'd rather spend the extra 50 bucks to ensure my phone is in mint condition :P

And you still have to sign a two year contract to get one. I would rather spend the extra $50 and get a new one.

Also remember that the refurbs come with a 30 day return policy too. If it has a bad scratch or doesn't sync or otherwise doesn't tickle your fancy, you can send it back and try another.
Buying a refurb isn't a lot different from buying at a lot of brick and mortar stores. There are returns on the shelf, there are factory refurbs on the shelf and there are new items on the shelf. It's a gamble

The new ones come with a 30 day return policy also because you have thirty days to get out of your ATT contract. I know Apple says 14 days to return the phone, but it's actually thirty or ATT hits your with 175 to get out of the contract.

God AT&T profits TONS from this in the long run i mean you still have to pay for the same contract you get with the brand new ones.

I say it doesn't matter if its refurbished or brand new. They BOTH hit the ground the same way and will crack and you will cry just the same. LOL. FREAKIN winter... i slipped and phone was in my hand while i was trying to help with an accident and it hit the ground. JUST got it fixed too. Still works thankfully but just have to look at that scar across the top of the screen...

Wouldn't the best option be to pay the full price ($199 - $299) for the NEW iphone from the APPLE store and have the FREE 1 year Warranty? ATT doesn't offer that, and do they even have an insurance policy?

"Refurbished devices carry a ninety day manufacturer's warranty from the date of purchase. To make a warranty claim after the first 30 days from purchase, call 1-800-801-1101. Refurbished Apple branded equipment is covered under Apple's original Limited Warranty, and will have at least 90 days or more remaining under the warranty when sold."

You guys have to pay that much for a refurb? on a 2 year contract?
The most you have to pay for an new 8Gig in the UK on an 18 month contract is £100 but it's free if you have a more expensive contract.
Makes a change for something to be cheaper in the UK
