honestly if the commercial showed that I'd wasn't supper fast. That it took 3-5 secs to load a web page or a location the map app would you buy it? No. This is stupid. I can't even beleive that we are talking about this. It's ridiculos. There are comercials all over tv that make their products look way better than they actually are. It's a funny thing called good advertising. You don't want to make an ad that just shows what your product can do, you show what it could do if you had the perfect connection and verything was working great.
This guy who is sueing is a retard and I hope he doesn't get sh*t.

misleading is the name of the game in marketing. whoever can fool the most people into buying their product over their opponents are "the best." i'm pretty sure if apple knows that their ads are ******** and they are intentionally airing them to entice/trick people to buy their product, that is false advertisement and very suable.

This sort of attitude is what gives Apple their power... we allow them to be untouchable...
Is it a little ridiculous that people are suing for this reason? Sure... I mean who REALLY believed it word for word. That being said, companies are responsible for DELIVERING what they advertise. If they don;t deliver, they are at fault...
So you are saying you wouldn't buy the phone if they showed it in a commercial operating in a real setting? You buy things based on commercials knowing that what you get is less than what is on the commercial but as long as the commercial is awesome the product is worth getting? I shed a tear for you just now...Last edited by sziklassy; 12-08-2008 at 11:09 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Wow....did people REALLY expect the iPhone 3G to be literally twice as fast? Would they have made such a fuss if it turned out to be only 1.9x as fast?
Which ad is more appealing to you?
Twice as fast. Half the price.
or
Really fast. Half the Price.
The synergy between the Twice/Half (multiples of 2...if you count 1/2 as a multiple of 2, but you see where I'm going sticklers.) makes the ad flow more smoothly.
I'd call Apple underhanded if 3G speed was only 1.1-1.3x faster than the Edge network speed, but 1.5x and up is forgivable.
Now this part is just personal preference, but a better slogan may have been
"50% faster. 50% cheaper." or maybe another word that doesn't carry the stigma of cheap.
