while i agree most things seem faster, my phone signal is awful and frequently jumps to no service. how can a software update ruin what was actually running quite well. i have had to put my Sim in my 2g just to make calls. my 2g is still running 2.1 and i get full signal with that. i thought the 3g had better reception with the plastic back? is this unique to me or is anyone else having bad reception?

This was introduced with 2.1. I actually like it, because any reminder is better than no reminder, but I would definitely prefer a different sound rather than it sounding as if you got ANOTHER new text. Sometimes I'm away from my phone and I hear the text and I'm like "meh, I'll get it later," then a few mins later I hear another new text and I figure it's really important. But no, it's the same text again

I had a Sony Ericsson M600i and a P1i and they had copy/paste, mms, bluetooth a2dp and touch screen. They don't look as nice as the iPhone or as big a screen but they were feature packed. I guess I learned to live without these things with the iPhone. In 2.2 I think the updated safari browser does not look right aesthetically, functionally maybe. Mail fetch seems to be fixed. No other thoughts about it yet.

Agreed. I use my iPhone for my work email, lack of search makes coworkers laugh at me. How can they call this business ready?

I Don't want to use a blackberry, and they(work) do not support external exchange... so I use IMAP. I was having some major fetching issues, which I Noticed were not related to my work's server. So far so good with this update, mail seems to fetch properly.

some people would be mad at me for saying so but.. copy and paste is not my first priority need. Email searching and MMS with video are my #1 and #2/3 must haves right now.

Overall this is a 2.1.x patch in my opinion. and because they consider this a major feature release (2.x) may warrant them to wait another 2-3 months before they add any new features to the phone

Perfectly stated. There's always going to be the apple fan base, but that won't keep them ahead in the business world forever. And I do hope they get a kick in the rear and get de-throned because they don't give users some of the most basic features. I love the phone, had the 1st gen and now have the 3G, but I think apples their way or the highway attitude is eventually going to bite them as far as this phone remaining a good business phone.

I'm really amazed that copy and paste has not been added yet. Flash I can understand to a degree because of possible battery issues (or so they say) but at least its a reason, and its been addressed, even if we don't like the answer.

But being able to copy and paste? I think that should be a requirement for any phone to even be labeled a 'smart phone' nevermind being business ready.

Er..anybody mentioned the missing Week View in Calendar yet?

Seems ludicrous to position the phone for business users and not have this vital scheduling option. I can't think of another 'Business' handset I've owned that didn't have a Week View in Calendar.

Also, looking at my meeting schedule, tasks and unread email summary on a single screen has become vital since the previous WinMo devices I owned all had this. Only reason I jailbreak is to get Intelliscreen.

P.S. still wouldn't swap my iPhone for a Storm though (no WiFi = FAIL).

i was a little dissappointed myself until..... I GOT MY EMOJI ICONS!!!! they're like regular faces on steroids. I love it, its a great new IN thing for iPhone & iTouch users. Its like they one up all the american services a little.lol The tweak that opens the feature can be found in CYDIA, and they can be recieved by ANYONE with the 2.2 firmware (Jailbroken or not)

Google Street View Rocks!... or it will when they get some more pics in the system, but i love it so far.

Safari?!?!.... i'm still kinda adjusting to half of my screen being gone.lol

Install the tweak from Cydia. Its hiding in the Japanese keyboad menu.

Well worth it. I love these little things.

I did a complete fresh install of 2.2 and haven't noticed anything bad yet. Major issues fixed so far are texting, safari, and opening apps. My text menu does not crash after i've unlocked my phone to view it. Safari hasn't crashed...yet (still observing), and my apps open smoothly with very little delay. So far i'm impressed, but it seems like a lot of people are having different issues with there upgrade. I'm using 2g iPhone...not sure if it makes a difference. But are most people that are having issues using iPhone 3g? And yes can we please have edit/copy/paste....seriously!

Oh yeah, and i am running on jailbreak fw. The only thing that slows it down a lil is the themes i use. But, overall a huge improvement in UI speed is definitely there. For me that is.

I don't know about you guys but... for me the 2.2 update was a GODSEND... Since the 2.2 update I no longer have to reboot my phone every other day to stop it from lagging and causing my apps to crash. I can also run themes with multiple widgets without it slowing down my phone one bit. I've also noticed that my typing lag has been DRAMATICALLY reduced and I LOVE the japanese Emoji, my boyfriend and I both have iPhones so we get to mess around with the Emoji all of the time now. There are so many of them!

I noticed a little bit of lag when typing if i had the text click sounds enabled. Once i disabled that, texting became much faster.

I'm already thinking STORM...

Apple's inability or unwillingness to add some features (listed below) that are common on almost every wireless phone out there, has let me to start thinking about getting the BlackBerry Storm.

I hate to get and email and having to type some of the info in the email as a note in a contact. Most of these features are not a luxury, they are a necessity.

Features:
1. Copy and Paste
2. MMS
3. Video recording
4. Flash player
5. Text forwarding
6. Being able to dial numbers from Notes application

Apple time is running out!!!

Well, with jailbreak, 2 of the 6 features you mentioned exist (MMS and Video Recording). I've never seen flash on a phone before.

I am not understanding why Apple is so proud of the iPhone features that resemble any iPod's. If we wanted to have a device for music playback, podcast, music downloads we would buy an iPod.This phone needs to provide for business usage or it has to go away because all the interface, the pretty icons and all the gadgets are just not going to be enough.
I love my phone but as a business owner i find it more and more annoying that it simply does not provide funcionality for business use. If the Blacberry pushes the iPhone out of the market it is well deserved.
I also find it highly upsetting that Apple who revolutionized the cellphone market with this device is bending over for AT&T and not taking control over issues like MMS,Teethering and can we please have SMS forwarding, copy and Paste and "business card" forwarding along with a decent GPS??
