apple is stuck with that "We Run it" mentality, which will probably equal being screwed on our side, as personal consumers. Apple came out strong with a product that the market really wasnt ready for, and the hardware is AMAZING. I mean, name one other phone that is as clean and smooth as the iphone in terms of menu, navigation, and the general operation of the touch screen.

But it just amazes me by if you are snart enough to create this killer piece of hardware, why are some of the most basic functions of an internet device, mp3/mp4 player, and cellphone missing?

I agree 150% of about a mail search! Thank god i use GMail, but i understand the headache of logging in through safari to find one message.

How abotu SMS forwarding? Deleting individual messages? A better way to select multiple recipients? I use bulk SMS to keep in touch with my team for work

And MMS is a dead issue, ill pass that

Can we get those bluetooth profiles? I mean, I cant recall ever seeing a phone that cost more than $50 that can use a bluetooth headset, but I can't send you a picture through bluetooth. LOL, AND THAT SAME PHONE DOESNT SUPPORT MMS!!! Even basic MP3 phones let you at least use bluetooth for BT Headphones or stereos in cars!

What about a Wireless Sync?

Or sending contacts as an SMS? Why do i have to go back and forth remembering a phone number and putting it into a text instead of being able to just send the contact as an SMS?

The iphone has this Taboo name in the biz world because most people see it and they say "Wow, how did that guy expense that when everyone else has blackberry" and its true. iPhone sucks for business apps, and apple is just playing catch up. Look at it like this. How many firmware updates did it take to look at office documents?

Check craigslist and look at the flood of people who are ditching iphones for the storm. Blackberry knows how to build a phone for business, apple is playing catch up

so i updated to 2.2 and restored to my backup, but i had an issue with the lockbackground.jpg image not changing when i wanted to change wallpapers, so I had to ssh into it to delete that file. I installed openssh and bosspref to get in, deleted the file, and it worked, i can change wallpapers, but now, I can't get into my favorites or make a call. I press the call button, and then seconds later and kicks me back to home. I can access my contacts through the contacts button, but when i make a call, I can't see the call screen, just the home screen with the green "back to call" thing on top....Anyone have this issue? Thanks in advance.

I'm very very happy with 2.2. Apps are opening AT LEAST twice as fast, consistently. It doesn't matter if I open and close a hundred different apps, everything still loads fast. It was never this fast before 2.2. The closest 2.1 could get was if I restarted the phone, opened say safari for example, then closed it, then opened it again, it would load it quick. But if I opened another app or two and went back to safari, it would load slow again. 2.2 opens stuff super fast consistently, just as it always should have. I can't believe how much snappier it is.

2.2 has also cured what 2.1 did to my battery. 2.1 was causing my battery to drain excessively for no apparent reason. It did the exact same thing to my friend's phone. The usage time would run up with everything closed, and the battery would drain. Sometimes the usage wouldn't go up but the phone would still drain excessively, ie in airplane mode and not touching the phone, it would lose 30% in 5 or 6 hours, whereas it would lose 1-2% under the same conditions pre-2.1. Now, it seems to be back to pre-2.1 levels. Hopefully that nasty problem doesn't come back - it was a real PITA.

I agree with MacWorld that the new mobile version of Safari is inelegant. I don't find it user friendly at all with the miniature search field crammed next to the URL field. At least Safari, doesn't crash..for now I was also hoping to enjoy Street View but confirmed Google has yet to add Canada to this service. As for major disappointments there's still no enhancements to the camera (ie: video recording, timer, etc), no copy/paste, no editing of documents, no native vCard support, no A2DP, no MMS and no tethering. So for now I'm happy to have the stability improvements but decided to jailbreak again to have MMS, tethering and improved camera features with Cycorder and Snapture, as well have the ability to use background push. Well that and I enjoy being able to theme my iPhone 3G Wish Apple would listen to their customers and offer features users have been asking for since the first iPhone was released over a year ago.

The new browser is kinda odd looking, they should have at least made the entry fields the same shape.

im not sure if this has been said yet but after 5 min getting a new text and not checking it i get another text reminded...i have not noticed this on any previous versions and i have jailbroken but i have not installed any sms notifiers or anything. I'm kinda 50 50 with this because its really annoying to be in class and get a text and you are busy so u choose to ignore it and then you get the reminder...but then there are sometimes i dont hear/feel a text message, but there for sure needs to be an option to turn this off i think.

Hold On Now!!! The blackberry storm is trash!!! Functionality wise ok it will get the job done in essence, BUT how does it get the job done? Smoothly? No! The interface leaves ALOT to be desired, that means typing is crap on there(see the review; bad implementation). The OS is poo it's not even built for touchscreen, meaning its the 4.7 or whatever blackberry OS with ADDED touchscreen functionality. The reviews are in and the storm does not even hold a candle to the iphone as an all around device. Business wise might be the argument but all apple has to do is release another firmware update and POOF!! bye bye storm. Apple doesnt have to release another phone to compete in multiple classes like blackberry. RIM may have the corner on business data management but as a device....no way my friends. Head on over to engadget and read the review for yourselves BlackBerry Storm review - Engadget Put the storm down and pick up the iphone and let's get real. Plus I don't even like apple!!!! Just the iPhone.

Upon further analysis of your latter postings I just want to clarify that my post quoted your prior statements but was not intended as a comment directly solely towards you fellow iphone guru.

Grr Apple. 4 things I really want implemented:
  1. Bluetooth
  2. Copy/Paste
  3. MMS
  4. And the ability to save and create multiple On-the-Go Playlists (similar to the older iPods.

There just adding worthless functions...
