I think you need to upgrade to iTunes 2.2 first, then rejailbreak with quickpwn. I also ran apt back up so I did all this and it's taking awhile (LOL-I should have done iTunes and un jailbroke yesterday!)
1. Back Up Phone in iTunes and with Apt Back up
2. Install iTunes 8.02
3. Restore to iTunes 2.2 (not update)
4. Re jailbreak phone
5. Go to Cydia and restore Apt Back up
6. Install Boss Prefs or SBS, Open SSH and 5 icon dock if you had it
7. Restore back up from iTunes
8. Reload any music/photos/movies etc... not part of restore, reset all Cydia themes and apps
Right?!?! Cuz if not warn me quick, I am on step 4 right now.

I dont get how you can say that when (someone correct me if Im wrong)
Updating the baseband gives you better Service on many different levels.
less dropped calls, faster dl/up load speeds, better reception, etc...
So YES upgrading the baseband does affect the update cause when updated -Google Maps performs better because its downloading the maps faster.
The Podcasts download/Stream faster
Safari downloads webpages faster
and so on and so on...
So Im kinda confused on how you can say upgrading the baseband has no effect on the new features or any of the features for that matter??

absolutely no luck ... and VERY aggrivating. I re-downloaded the Pwnage Toolkit. I re-downloaded the iPhone 2.2 firmware. I restored my phone to factory settings, without backing it up to my old settings.
All to no avail. All I get is "sry, I haz fail!"
What gives? Am I missing something?

HELP!!!!!!
I am running 2.0.X
What steps do I have to go through to get to 2.2 on my unlocked 2G? I didn't like 2.1, to many problems and so stuck with 2.0.X

Yes, but that's the point of step 4 and you can't do step 4 without first doing step 3. You have to be relocked/unjailbroken on iTunes 2.2 then run the dev's team new jb's for 2.2.
But, another question: I am on 2G phone and I had unlocked it with pwnage 2.1 but never ran bootneuter. I only installed Cydia with 2.2. Is it true I am still unlocked and only need to install bootneuter from Cydia if I ever want to complete the unlock or do I have to reinstall the unlock from 2.2? Please advise and thanks!

Good luck; this worked like a charm. Whoever said the rejb was quick, wow, yes it is!!
Edit: Almost everything worked perfect. After restoring from iTunes I tried to restore Apt Back Up but it could not find my back up. No big deal but a little disappointing to have to remember all my Cydia installed apps instead of having them list out for me. But, all in all, happy camper here!Last edited by dublgrace; 11-22-2008 at 10:47 PM.

Having problems with 2.2 jailbrake
I'm glad to see 2.2 was out so quickly. Thanks Dev Team! My phone is currently jailbroke to 2.1. I have not update to 2.2 yet through Itunes. I downloaded everything per the instructions on this site. After I select the 2.2 5G77 restore.ipsw and enter my OS X password to build the restore file, i get a response that it has failed. Am i missing a step or building the wrong file. Don't understand why its not working for me. Do you have to update normally through itunes first and then jailbrake?
Any help will be much appreciated.

Anyone know of a way to keep everything I've done on my 3G intact?

Otherwise - maps, podcasts, all those 2.2 updates are largely unaffected by the baseband.
