Firmware 2.2 JAILBROKEN

help! problem with jail breaking-
everytime i try to jail break it gets stuck on the "preparing my iphone for reboot/ dfu mode". not sure what's happening. please advise- my iphone is 3g and i have windows vista. i've downloaded the 2.2 firmware and quickpwn. don't know what else to do.

i dont know if your problem was solve or not. but it happens to me too. and everytime that happen my phone hang, and its not recognazble,., put it in dfu mode while connected to itunes,,i did that 6-8 times (its frustrating, first delete your quickpwn and then D/L it again. ur a member and should be available to you at the first page, if it keeps hanging try to restore your device factory settings. make sure you back up your contacts and stuff, thats what i did and j/b my phone, hope it helps.

I currently have a iPhone 3g 2.1 jailbroken phone on AT&T network. My Swirly MMS works fine too along with everything else.

My only question is if I upgrade to 2.2, will I lose all of my jailbroken apps on my phone?

And if not, how do I put the 2.2 on my phone? Through iTunes or download through a link and create the custom ISPW? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

upgraded to 2.2 and re-pwned using quickpwn on windows. Worked first time and the phone is faster than ever before.

Well I just upgraded my 2G iPhone from 2.1FW-2.2FW using iTunes 8.0.1.11 and quickpwn 2.2, so far everything works good.

Although I have one question... I only use WIFI since in Canada and Rogers is retarded to get a data plan since im unlocked and using my own plan. I noticed I was able to get mail and etc. when I was not in a WIFI area... I looked and Data was being used! So I used the SBsettings and looked that Edge was already turned off and WIFI was suppose to be used only! I browsed through the phone settings and couldn't find anything about Edge settings like in the older FW version. So is there something different with 2.2FW that im just missing?????

Ok, good. Thanks for all of your help. Sorry that I am asking so many questions, but I have one more for you. I already have the 2.2 firmware on my iPhone (But it isnt jailbroken). How do I save all of the settings/apps that I have on the phone now so that I have them when I jailbreak it.

Yeah but how do I do that? I just don't want to mess up my phone.

My phone auto backups when I sync it to iTunes (It looks like it auto saves over the old backup every time), Is there a way that I can save that backup in a different file or something? I dont want to jailbreak it then have it auto save over the old backup.

So i just spent the last Twenty min. looking at the same post over and over...
This is to the NOOB's: There is a nice post at the start of each thread! It tells you what and how to Unlock, And jailbrake your phone..

As well when you sign up for ModMy there is a nice letter about how to ask questions, and how to add all the information that is needed to answer your question..

Well I look at rules, and I read, there for I am able to follow some directions..I may bend, or sometimes forget, but really..I have enough stones to write, and ask people for help the correct way.. I'm sorry of someone has answered this question, Seeing how the Firmware came out just a little while ago, There is 51 PAGES of post...

This stuff is easy! If you can take two seconds to read you will find all of your answers! TO EVERY QUESTION! because they have been all answered before!

And for you above with the back-up question....Think of it this way....When you restore your phone, Its like brand new....For this reason your phone will back up to itunes...SO if your phone brakes, or if you get a new one, you can restore it to your phone! WIth out losing!

Yes you over wright each back up...But since every time your phone looks at Itunes it sees a code, goes back and fourth...But when you re-connect the black phone with a different code it will ask you what you want to do...It wont just start backing up a blank phone..

And....Your phone gets its info from your computer...Music....Phone numbers (if you sink with outlook...you should for extra safty..at least your contact list) And your photos from your photos...Again depending how you have it set up...But you tell it what to do...You in itunes select how you want your phone to get it's info, and where..

SO when you re-do your phone you can do one of many things depending on how your set up...A fresh sync...or from back-up....I do fresh, less problems...

After you set the phone up as new....You will be able to sync your contacts mail, etc, etc...itunes will sync you apps back to your phone.

Just upgraded from 2.1 to 2.2 and Winpwn with unlock...running Tmobile.

My biggest issue hasn't been fixed yet... still no WiFi !
ANyone else have this problem?

BTW, this upgrade was the least painless and most simple to do this time around.

Thanks alot to everyone who helped, but you kinda blew it out of perportion 97vrsix. I'm sorry, i just dont want to mess up my phone. I spent $400 on it a year ago and i dont have a job, so that is a lot of money to me.

hey guys quick question.. I've tried searching but cannot find a solid answer. I have a 8gb 3g iphone locked to att but jailbroken 2.1 firmware.

My question is can I just use a jailbroken 2.2 firmware file to restore through itunes thus having 2.2 firmware running with the 2.1 baseband? or would I have to go through the quickpwn process?
