Ive downloaded the 3.9 & 4.6 files - when I try to build in PWnage it says they cannot find the files. I have no idea what to try

I'd say there's a good chance that you're trying to use the 1g ipsw with the 3g phone.
Similarly, if you want to make it easy, here is the IPSW I have for 3g 2.2, standard root partition, standard logos, cydia, installer, and baseband left alone (for future unlock). Hope it helps.
Both files needed, Rar’ed together.

Okay Now What
Okay so I have just recently decided to jailbreak my iPhone. I have already installed the 2.2 firmware from apple through itunes.
I have read a ton on how to do it without installing the one from apple but my question is how do I jailbreak my iPhone now that I have already installed the official 2.2 version from apple? I am not worried about not being able to unlock later on in life because my whole family is on AT&T and I don't plan on leaving the country any time soon. I have an iPhone 3G.

Hello All,
I noticed w 2.1 jailbroken my phone was noticably slower and the battery drained quite quickly. I was wondering if with the 2.2 jailbroken, if the phone was still slower. Thanks for any input.
Cheers

Base on the lack of response I'm guessing the question was not previously asked. Therefore, I will ask again.
Phone: iPhone 3G
Status: Jailbroken
Carrier: AT&T
Firmware: 2.0
Computer OS: Windows
I was wondering if I can upgrade directly to 2.2 from 2.0 or if I must update from 2.0 to 2.1 and then 2.2.
Lastly, I was wondering if my data would be deleted when updating the firmware (by data I'm referring to applications, settings, text, emails, cydia related stuff etc.)
Thanks.

Anarchist, you can upgrade to 2.2 direct from 2.0. All your itunes stuff (games, emails) will come back after you sync. And, IMO, I would just reinstall all your 3rd party stuff one by one. I have tried all the appbackup stuff and it has never worked right for me. But someone else may have a better idea. Goodluck

Installer
O.K. I have been looking all over the web and seen many different types of custom firmware 2.2 for iPhone 3g. But almost all of them included Installer, Cydia. Anyway to get rid of the installer? The reason I ask is I found a custom firmware 2.2 for iPhone 3g with the 1000mb partition but it also includes installer.

hey guys. I'm running custom 2.1 firmware on 3G right now. When I went from 2.0 to 2.1, I didn't lose any of my data thanks to quickpwn. I see for now that's not the way to go...so I'm wondering if there is another method that I can use that will allow me to make the upgrade while being able to avoid having to re-add all of my custom stuff? It's just such a pain. But if there is no other way, I'll make the necessary decisions.
Thanks!
(btw, I've custom done every firmware version that has come out since the launch of the 2G, so you can talk to me like a vet

are you talking about softwaers from appstore? if so then just sync ur phone with itunes and upgrade witohout any fear. but if you want ur cydia apps backed up then there is a softwaer in cidia called apptbackup use it to back up ur cidia stuff and once you have upgraded and jailbrokine, you can easilly reinstall all your custom softwares using aptbackup. hope that helps.
PS. i havent tried the above method yet but i have heard of it.
upgraed a week ago and not jb yet! shame on us for running modmyi.
dont worry i will help you. i had the same problem the new jb software was not working for me eigher. but that was becasue i was running it on vista so i tried it on windows xp and it worked like a charm. everything is working great for me. so just use quickpawn but run it on windows xp and that should do it.Last edited by msb2008; 12-01-2008 at 10:04 AM.
