do u guys realize you just need to click restore with the pwnage tool method? I think putting it in dfu mode causes the errors. Pwnage tool never worked for me until i forgot to put it in DFU mode and its worked since.

Hello!
New to all this j/b stuff and the iphone. Got mine about two weeks ago. I wanted to j/b my phone but after reading this topic and all the errors and issues I must say I am very skeptical about this.
I guess my first question which I never thought of until I read this topic is about restoring the phone if I want to sell the phone later on. Is it correct that if I jailbreak my phone using quickpwn (Windows user here) after I have the 2.2 firmware that the phone will not be able to unlock to be used with a different carrier?
I personally will never switch carriers. I just signed up with AT&T and don't plan to go any where but if a new iphone comes out and I want to sell this one I do not want to be stuck.
Thanks!

Ok I'm not trying to be a d*ck here but this is all getting ridiculous... Once you get to that point you need to open iTunes, hold shift (pc/windows), click restore & then your pc's browser will open & you have to find were the custom 2.2ipsw file is you just created & click on it. It will then load the custom ipsw as your new firmware. Good luck.

Thanks for posting the guide and all your hard work. I have one question: When I use PwnageTool in expert mode, in the General Settings, the "enable baseband update" is grayed out and I am unable to check that box. Does this mean pwnagetool won't update the baseband and we have to use quickpwn to update if we want to update the baseband? I really want to use pwnagetool so I can increase the root partition but I want the baseband updated too.
Thanks
Edit: The Dev Team answered my question. Thanks goes to them for making this available to us and the quick response. If anyone is interested, they told me that PwnageTool forces the baseband not to be updated so if you want the baseband updated, you have to use QuickPwn.Last edited by Labluver; 11-25-2008 at 11:10 AM. I just want to make sure I don't stuff anything up.
I have an iphone 3G running jailbroken 2.1 firmware.
Now when trying to restore my iphone itunes gives me the option to restore and update and a EULA for the 2.2 firmware, is it alright to click this or should I restore my phone to a pre-jailbroken state some other way. (Such as in DFU mode).
Please note the above happens when clicking restore, then restore and update. So will this process restore my iphone, then update without causing any problems.
I do need to restore to a pre-jailbroken firmware before updating to 2.2 right?
Thanks in advance for any help.
I am a windows user btw.Last edited by Brem.; 11-24-2008 at 12:09 PM.

After jailbreaking my battery life is horrendous, for the first time ever my iPhone battery died on me. Didn't even use it, was in my pocket all day and after 9-10 hours the battery warning appears that only 10% was remaining, 10 mins later batterys dead.
Ye and why are emoji icons only available through Cydia and not officialy?

On 2.1 I set the International format to United Kingdom to omit the American style gaps when i dial a number, but when I do the same with 2.2 upgrade it still displays a gap after 3 digits.
Does any of you know how to set it so no gaps appear between digits?
Its a small thing I know but still annoying!
Thanks.
Never mind, found it! Set it to Philippines!Last edited by Ian Nicoll; 11-24-2008 at 12:07 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
