what about us app junkies?
I have around 200 apps, placed in categories.
People have said to remove apps from categories prior to update, but I can't remove them to springboard as I would have far more than the 9 allowed pages....
how do i go about getting all the apps back on?
what have you guys in this situation done? Thanks.

Anyone with a 3g that upgraded to 2.2 software can you please put up a copy of your keyboard-common.artwork, keyboard-latin.artwork, and your other.artwork files. I tried to use my 2.0 ones and now it's all messed up. thanks for any help.

Oddity I have not seen posted yet: No "Call" icon
OK, here is the basics: AT&T 3G iPhone
1. Prior jailbreaked with 2.1, was working fine
2. Updated to 2.2 via iTunes
3. Used quickpwn 2.2 to jailbreak 2.2
4. Went back through Cydia and installed Winterboard, themes, etc.
5. All good and fine
6. After a while turned phone one, weird, Phone has no "Call" icon
7. Turned off (holding power button). No solution
8. Restored via iTunes
9. Synced via iTunes, installed past AppStore installed programs
10. "Call" icon is back but on the springboard multiple icons are missing.
Most notably missing is Settings, might be others missing as well, not sure.
Solution?
Attached are the two pages in the springboard
HOW DO I GET "SETTINGS" BACK? Or should I jailbreak it again and that will fix it?
EDIT.. added images

Well I'd just move half of the apps out of Categories the uninstall them and then to the other half.
It's better to restore rather than update as if you update you will lose 500mb of your iPhones memory, so 500mb will basically go to waste and restore is the only way to get it back, I think it's the only but I'm not sure.

What I did was sync with itunes then restored to 2.2 qwick pwnage. Resync with itunes, all apps that were hidden with categories are still hidden. Installed categories from cydia, created my categories, add and all the apps were there and just added them to the correct categories folder. If all this makes sense.

I was overwhelmed last night. First iphone and it was already set for me other than the file needed to play added games to itunes (you know which one Im speaking of).
Helpful TidBits:
For anyone that may have a error 13 or similair while restoring and updating to the latest 2.2 in itunes...
I had this problem and it always died on 'getting the iphone ready' screen while showing the apple logo.
Solution: I had to unplug all of my other usb port items including my wireless usb network adapter (let it check file then unplugged it hile it was extracting the upgrade ipsw).
This is appearently an issue with usb power on some machines and conflicts on others.
Just a heads up.
Easy as 1-2-3:
On 1st Gen iPhones the steps taken on my phone were as easy as the following..
Get your phone in itunes, download upgrade, restore iphone (this is where it actually upgrades), pwn it to unlock and JB it, restore again in itunes to reupload the config and files and sync as needed.
Then I also readded the file in ssh (you know what I mean as its not allowed to discuss here) to get the apps I added to itunes to upload to the iphone again. (Else it wont be able to verify your newly downloaded files outside of the appstore)
At any rate, I never used any files other than itunes 2.2 ipsw (the 2.2 upgrade file) and 39.bin and 46.bin (bootloader files) pwning required me to have. My phone was already jailbroken, but it doesnt matter when you restore your iphone, itunes makes it stock and pwning it puts it all back in perspective.
Feel free to mail me for any other help, after 12 hours of learning I think I may be able to help those of you with a 2g iphone.Last edited by prodigyrick; 11-23-2008 at 03:30 PM.

Did my upgrade last night, and all went well. No problems. However, this morning, while using SSH, screwed up a folder name and corrupted the install - so, had to start over again.
Well, on the 2nd pass now and having major issues using bigboss' repo. I see that several others have reported/experienced the same; assuming it's based on the server load, as his website is very slow to load as well.
Fortunately, I d/l'd all of my custom apps and theme extensions prior to initiating the upgrade and have been able to SSH the ones I can't access through Cydia, including BossPrefs.
My question - with the update, has anyone identified Cydia apps that aren't compatible with 2.2? I noticed QuickGold and Winterboard already had updates - very nice!

OK, had updated to my custom 2.2 firmware fine. Stupidly I chose to restore from my backup image. Problem being, I had Cydia and Installer hidden through BossPrefs. So I had my new custom loaded but couldn't access Cydia any longer (maybe there was a way to fix this but I didn't know it).
Tried reloading the custom and got the dreaded error 1600. Switched ports to no avail. Then tried loading factory 2.2 firmware. Golden.
Tried going into DFU again to reload custom. Back to errors 1600, 1601. Kept getting this no matter what.
Simply rebooted to get my phone back to functional on factory 2.2. That's where I am now, kind of afraid to go back into DFU again for fear of getting stuck in the error loop again.
Anyone else getting this or know what the deal is? How can I load my custom firmware?!
Thx in advance!

i guess i'm about to 'restore' then.
What additional work will this mean for me since I'm not 'updating'?
thanks
