Successfully upgraded my 2.0.1 (1st Gen) iPhone to 2.2

OS: Windows Vista Ultimate
Steps:

• UPDATED (NOT restored) my iPhone to 2.2 using iTunes (8.0.2)
• Then I used QuickPwn and loaded the same FW I installed previously on iTunes
• Followed the on-screen steps
• Done.

It was that easy. All I lost was the apps I got from Cydia, but I made a list before the update, so it's no problem. It's now Jailbroken and unlocked again.

so let me get this,till now there is STILL no way to jailbreak on 3g using windows and still have 3g unlock?!?,if that is the case,i got my iphone on someone else number but i use att too,i shouldn't need to unlock it right?

some positives about this version is appstore now works with edge before I would have to get on wifi because of a connection error. Everything runs more smoothly. I haven't been able to test the fetch. Previously there was a bug with that.

Had same problem so I installed Backward Compatibility by saurik and it fixed my problem.

Has anyone tried to ssh into their iPhone with the new firmware? The password from the prior firmwares was 'alpine', and the 2.2 beta was 'timberline'. Neither of these work for the official release. Does anyone know the new password?

I'm on o2 and have the iPhone 3G i dont need to unlock it to any other networks i just want to be able to us Cydia and the software it provides.

Got the Phone last monday and instead of waiting for this update i went and use QuickPWN and "Jailbroke" it.

Now im confused as i thought the term "Jailbroke" was just getting the phone open to non-appstore software.

I want to upgrade to 2.2 and then re-enable Cydia and such, whats the safest way of doing this? Restore, upgrade and then re-apply the fix?

I don't need to unlock the phone, just open it up to Cydia
