Maybe I did something wrong or maybe me and QuickPwn just don't get along.
I've never been able to get QuickPwn to work right. Same thing this time, I went through the entire process and it seemed to work right until it needed to reboot the phone. Then it would just sit on the boot logo forever and vibrate from times to time then just reboot.
Oh and I'm on the first Generation iPhone, 16gb. Any ideas?

here's what i did, sort of an informal tutorial
iphone 2G @ 2.1 unlocked and jailbroken w/windows
1-download quickpwn 2.2 for windows
make sure you also have the 3 and 4 bl files (mmi download page)
2-sync and backup your iphone
3-update your itunes to 8.0.2 (reboot required)
4-open itunes, click restore. when asked click "donwload and install" for 2.2 software
5-let that **** roll... message: cannot activate ur phone, non-approved sim
6-launch quickpwn
7-follow the instructions, you'll need to call up the firmware itunes downloaded, mine found it in the default location. you need to call your bootloader files, check the box for unlock, and you may want cydia and installer.
8-follow the steps blablabla
9-go back to itunes and restore from the backup
10-sync back all your ****
tada!

the only thing i noticed as a hinderence for ME was before i went to 2.2 i was at 2.1 and used aptbackup and it succesfully backed up my apps according to the screen. so now at 2.2 supposedly after i restore my backup of my iphone profile i was to re-download aptbackup and hit restore. It didnt work. i hit it and it said it would only work if i backed up and synced from a restore. i dunno. so now i'm trying to remember everything i had from cydia. luckily i was a minimalist.

ok my friend all you have to do its manually turn off your iphone by pressing the home & power buttons toghether until the phone turns off/, when it does release the power button & keep pressing the just the home button for 5 seconds then put turn it on again wait like 5 secs. and put it on DFU mode wait until iTunes detects your iphone..... when it does click on the restore option and let do its job when itunes have done restoring it wait until it reboots & gets detected again make sure it does.....after this run your quickpwn and make sure it detecs your iphone you'll notice this when itunes close it self then just follow the instructions on quickpwn.
never never unplug your iphone thats why it gets stock on the boot screen vibrating like crazy......
hope this help you

i'm currently on 2.0.2 jailbroken 2G (at&t).
i dont ever plan on switching carriers so....
from what i've been reading, in order to have a 2.2 jailbroken iphone, i need to fresh install 2.2 directly from itunes (unjailbroken) and then use QuickPwn to jailbreak it? and reinstall all the apps i got from cydia? is this the right steps? please advise. thanks.Blah Blah and Blah

Apple Forums | ModMyi.com | iPhone, iPod, Mac, OS X, Mods, More - Downloads
and ya click restore and itunes will download and install the 2.2
quickpwn will later ask for the directory where itunes put it
the restore at the end is from your backup but you'll already be unlocked at 2.2
