Don't know if anyone mentioned it, but the EMERGENCY CALL is fixed too.

When I had my phone locked with a password and you click Emergency Call, you could dial any number before... Now it doesn't let you.

My wife has a 3G and it is jailbroken but not unlocked. She is going to sell it. If we just do the standard "Upgrade to 2.2" from iTunes, will it just set the phone back to the unjailbroken status or is there a specific process I need to follow? I don't want to brick it.

I am keeping mine and don't really need 2.2 (yet)

Thanks!

I used a first gen iphone and upgraded. It appears to remove the jailbreak. I am not sure about the 3g, but it should be the same.

Well I have an iPhone 2G, with unlocked via QuickPWN, I upgrade to the 2.2 firmware (not restore), and itunes show me the SIM CARD is not supported.

So I downgraded to 2.1 again.

No problem...

Waiting for 2.2 unlock.

Was your phone still in an activated state after the upgrade?

GPS Improvement

I did the 2.2 upgrade and the main thing I noticed is that the GPS initializes and works much better that before. It used to take quite some time, even when in a perfectly clear location outdoors. Now, even in my house, the map starts to locate and gives me the GPS beacon almost immediately. This is also true for the Path Tracker and GPS Kit apps as well. Curious if anyone else noticed improvements.

No, you don't need to activate your phone again. It just updates the firmware and keeps everything (contacts, AppStore apps, music, etc.) as it was before the update (except for your jailbroken apps).

If you do the standard upgrade to 2.2 it will be like restoring your iPhone to the original non-jailbroken state. You will NOT brick your phone.

cheers,

Step 1) find a high cliff (you can even use google maps for it)
step 2) attempt to be wiley coyote, and step off the edge

i promise the fall won't hurt. The sudden stop at the bottom? That'll leave a slight bruise...http://modmyi.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

The baseband has been upgraded.
Proxysim solutions don't work anymore.
Downgrading to 2.1 won't downgrade the baseband.

You got yourself a beautifull iPod touch.
