OK, I have an AT&T iPhone 3g, do not care about unlocking to be able to use on another carrier, just so I can install apps via Cydia and Installer. i.e. use Winterboard, etc. Am I reading correctly that it is ok in my situation to use the latest release of Quickpwn? or ????

Okay. I'm utterly confused.
I have 16gb first gen iphone that is unlocked and jailbroke.
Do I click "update" in itunes (wont this get rid of my unlock?!?!), then use the new quickpwn for mac to re-jailrbeak and redownload all my cydia apps?

I'm worried I'm going to brick my iphone.

you will never be permanetly bricked, and you should be able to update a first gen without losing your unlock. your jailbreak will be erased though, but you can rejailbreak just as easily as the first time. quickpwn and pwnagetool are out for mac

ok i am having a major problem after updating a non-jailbroken/non-unlocked standard iphone. MY PHONE HAS NEVER BEEN JAILBROKEN OR UNLOCKED! but for some reason, after going into itunes this morning to update to 2.2. after the update finished and my iphone restarted, i got an error message saying there was a problem with my SIM card, and it would only allow me to make emergency calls. I have searched for hours everywhere including here and cant seem to find out what i need to do to fix my phone! ive put it into recovery mode and tried to restore it like over 20 times by installing 2.2 from the firmware file which ive downloaded from everywhere i can find to make sure it wasnt the firmware file. I've tried 2.1, but found out after reading on several sites that the broadband update wouldnt allow me to downgrade back to 2.1. it really makes me regret having ever hit that upgrade button because this morning i had a working phone, AND NOW I HAVE A PAPER WEIGHT! please if someone could help me id really appreciate it.

huh? are you a legit user? i am assuming so because u said your phone has never been unlocked.


oh and PS. i am really happy with this update. i like the new status bar when restoring, also the new maps is awesome, i also noticed (very minor) but when adding an address to someones name that layout is new as well, or atleast i never noticed it before.

Whats going on here? It gets all the way to the end, and then it says I haz failed. And in the log it says creating the ipsw

I have the 2.2 pwnage tool, and fire fox downloaded 2.2 firmware. Whats up here? Does anyone have a finished ipsw they want to send over to me or something? Im jail broken 2.0.2 right now. 3G iPhone

I am trying to build a custom .ipsw firmware using Pwnage 2.2 but it is not working. I am prompted "I haz failed" shortly after entering my system password.
I am using the new Mac book. This never happened on my old Mac book.
Anyone else?

EDIT: For those that are getting a "Srry, Ihaz Failed" with a kitty picture when trying to create a custom restore file:

1) Go to Expert Mode
2) Under General, increase the root partition to 1000Mb.
3) Then select "Begin"

This should keep it from failing.

A strange sidenote to my upgradage...I did quickpwn, everything seems to be fine except I can't change wallpaper! All I get is black. SSHd in and lockbackground.jpg is indeed changing when I change it, just it's not displaying on the unlock screen, or with user wallpaper selected in winterboard.

any ideas?

some changes i have noticed:

updates now update on the old icon instead of making new one then merging.

appstore updates page now has a update ALL button.

settings/general/home button now lists Phone Favourites instead of just Favourites

settings/general/keyboard now has "." shortcut switch

@orange it is probably an option in winterboard. go through there and scroll through there and see what is check/not checked
