Played with it some before I did the 1.1.4 upgrade yesterday. It's a nice application. I'll wait for it to be a little more developed before adding it back to 1.1.4. Things are really on the right track.

Yeah, I've got it running on 1.1.4. It's an awesome application, and I seriously hope that it will be able to completely replace Installer very soon.
Oh, one question: Now that I have installed Cydia on my iPhone, would it be possible to write native applications using Python or Java? Is there any documentation about that?

I've run into problems with Cydia

I have an unlocked, jailborken 1.1.3 using Dev Teams Method

i decided to attempt to install Cydia, with BSD already installed,

i tried the first time, got "Main Script Execution Failed"

so i attempted to go into WinSCP to look at my files

cant.

no wifi?

so i go and connect to my wifi, but it only stays connected aslong as im in the menu in settings

if i go home it boots me off

im attempting to install Cydia again and i havent gotten errors..but i wouldnt mind figuring out what happened :/


UPDATE: still got the error

i noticed it was around "Extracting Tele..."

UPDATE 2: Restarting seemed to fix wifi..for now.

Is anyone having edge issues after installing cydia? I cannot use weather or Maps on Edge now. I get the "Couldn't find location" and "update Failed" errors. I'm on 1.1.3 Jailbroken and unlocked using the iclarified method

Ive just got a suggestion for the future of Installer and Cydia. Why not just combine them? If you add the Cydia features to Installer, its the best of both worlds. Just my 2 cents...

I have Cydia and it's not ready for primetime needs alot of work So I removed it and what a pain to remove also...

Because they could, but they haven't.
It isn't open source so nobody could fix it.

If anything is wrong with Cydia and the main devs don't take any action, other coders can.

Edit: @metaljay, just noticed your comment about jailbreakme.com:
Unfortunately, the jailbreakme.com method has limitations, most importantly, size, the tiff can only contain so much code, and frankly, 11MB is way beyond the limit.

What about ziphone? Maybe it is possible to integrate it with ziphone and have Cyndia instead installer on new unlocked phone after using ziphone. This should be good replacement for installer. I am looking forward to it.

I am looking forward to it as well, but I think it will be a while before something like that happens, because :

a) Dev's have to switch their repo's over to the cydia side of things (kind of being taken care of as they are making something to convert the repos over, right?)

and b) most people just know and tolerate installer, and will automatically be looking for that with future jailbreaks. In fact the words AppTap/Installer/Installer.app have become synonymous with the word jailbreak.

Still (Cydia > Installer)^10, even in this, its early stage.

I have Cydia installed. I am on 1.1.4 Ziphone unlocked. This program worked fine, but not it is crashing. It opens briefly and then crashes back to the home screen.

I went into installer to do a renistall of Cydia which went fine, but I still have the app crashing when I try to run it.

What can I do? Could it have anything to do with commands I have run to get Finder working?

I am not sure where or what to look at. I have set permissions to 0777 on Cydia.app and all the files inside. They are also Group: admin, Owner: root.

Any help is appreciated.

Yeah, I am having the same issues as Hyperextension. Is there a solution for this probelm. I would not want to have to restore my phone.
