I travel abroad a lot and need it unlocked badly.

Cant they copy the baseband off a factory unlocked iphone?
I guess they would've done it, if it was that simple.

Woo this is awesome! I'm currently using the TurboSIM to use T-Mobile on my iPhone, but who wouldn't love an actual hardware unlock more?

That way no more crippled functions, like with the TurboSIM (which isn't a big deal since T-Mobile's 3G isn't working with the iPhone, )

It's the GSM modem firmware. Just search for "iphone baseband" on Google if you want to learn more...

i refer to the 2 models as:
plastic backs *yuch*
and
****METAL BACKS****
thats the only thing thats stopping me from upgrading that plastic:
chips, scratches, breaks, smashes and get set on fire soo easily

whoa sets on fire lol, now i know that if im lost in the woods i would use my 3G as firewood (then again, if i was lost in the woods with my 3G i would just use google maps, but its also good to know that its flamable so if it dies out....FUEGO!!!)
