Podcaster - I Will Fight Now More Forever

Podcaster has been kicked, punched, and beaten out of the AppStore, causing an uproar among the iPhone developer community in regards to Apple's app approval process.
But Podcaster just. will. not. die.
Today Alex got ahold of me asking us to host Podcaster in our Cydia repo, and after half an hour of screensharing to fix up a few minor tweaks, we got it completely ready for you.
Try it out now...
Podcaster allows you to subscribe, manage, stream and download podcasts directly to your iPhone and iPod Touch. Its shareware, a full license running $4.99 from his site.

i almost wish the appstore didnt exsist sometimes because podcaster looks like its great. apple shuns these great apps and good developers for some reason. i wish it was all back to 1.1.4 where everything was installer and cydia and you could get like 9 million apps for your phone and 95% of them was free. dont get me wrong the appstore is awesome but i miss the good ole days

I have never used a podcast before. Actually I have never even looked into what podcasts are, but I think it is awesome that even though the giants on the hill can reject great apps from devs Cydia is there for them to have an outlet.

What feed url is it? You can post it or email it to [email protected]
I will be putting out updates for all of you that got it before Cydia release. I just want to make sure there are no major problems and it's seems there are none.
Version 1.1 does not but I am planning on implementing this in the next few updates.
TheOrioles33: Although you can stream podcasts using Podcaster.fm or other methods, Native Podcaster was meant to use offline. Remember that there are a lot of iPod Touch users that do not have edge or 3g. Also, I cannot stream video over 3g or edge because it's too slow. Even some audio podcasts stutter.Last edited by almerica; 10-01-2008 at 07:14 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

You can sync podcasts from iTunes to iPhone.
What is the point of this app, Apple were right it does "duplicate the iTunes feature", well sorta.
So basically it store Podcasts offline, so can the iPod section in iPhone. 3G and Edge are too slow for video but the YouTube app can stream video over 3G/Edge.
So what is all the fuss?? I don't get it!
What's the difference between Podcaster and the iPod podcast section except the streaming option??

@almerica: I purchased Podcaster through the Ad Hoc method. I am having an issue that the podcast will stop about 20 minutes into a one hour podcast. It has happened to me with a couple of them. They are downloaded onto the phone. Are others having that issue or is it an issue with the file? Thanks for a great app!
@A.T: This app allows you to download the podcast onto the phone over the air. iTunes does not! So it doesn't duplicate the iTunes feature; it enhances it by providing the over-the-air download feature. If you are nowhere near your computer or your iTunes app, then you cannot download a podcast over the air onto the iPhone. It is a matter of convenience for people who want to be able to download a podcast on the fly; you can update the podcasts and download new podcasts as you see fit. Also, there are tabs for Featured, Newest, Top Rated, and Popular podcasts. I never used podcasts on the phone myself, so it is great to be able to see some podcasts that are popular or top rated and choose a couple from the list. It cost $10 with the ad hoc method, so $5 is a bargain!

Bought this app!!! WOW LOVE IT
I tell you listing/watching to podcasts is now my favorite thing to do on the iPhone.
I watch geekbrief.com, cnet.com, etc all the time, its so nice to have the podcasts updated just waiting for you to download without iTunes!!! AWESOME
