ur, guys, I just read the matrix with my Japanese cellphone's barcode scanner, and well, usually on japan you get URLs out of it, but this time I got this:

i found this on the 2g when i was taking it apart and its pretty much hidden so i dont think its for the bar code scanner

It's a 3D barcode. The Japanese use them a lot.

If anyone has got a Nokia handset with the 3D barcode app installed they would be able to confirm what Albior said.

On a black 3g iphone: Take sand paper and rub it on the back of phone 1 1/4" below the camera lens and you will see the 3d barcode.

On a white 3g iphone: Take sand paper and rub it on the back of phone 1 1/2" below the camera lens and you will see the 3d barcode.

This will result in the destruction of the back of your phone.

From working in a plastics manufacturing & assembly plant, I'd assume that the barcode is nothing more than:

1. Identifier to when the phone was assembled
2. Identifier to when the plastic backing was molded.
3. 42

Okay, well someone must be lying or wrong somewhere.

I just did the nightvision thing with my video camera, and i could see through the back panel clearly, but all i saw was the plastic underneath. I looked everywhere, and saw the screws, but no matrix.

I was #2 in line to get the 3g, so maybe they didn't put them on until recently.

I think its fake, I tried it with my camcorder and black iphone and all you can see is the screws or riverts, no matrix
