I have a jb 2g 2.0.2 using wnpwn and I am just subscribing to this thread so that I know when the windows version to jailbreak comes out. I have not updated to itunes 8.0 yet, I am waiting to get 2.1 and jailbreak method prior to updating itunes. Thanks

Well that's the files Jazz2k8 and CyberGreg had in their restore files. So I
thought there must be a way to use them. Since that was the purpose of uploading them.

Hey guys, sorry I don't have the attention span to read all 16 pages, but I am currently seeding pwnage 2.1, and almost done downloading the 3g 2.1 FW. I am planning to patch a custom ipsw and upload it to my server for the poor windows fellows who need it. Hopefully i won't get bandwith-raped here :-/
Anyways, in the meantime does anyone know the best method of backing up custom apps for a painless upgrade? I know MMi has a guide, but it seems to be down or overloaded at the moment

you ain't gotta backup any apps, just follow my guide and you'll have all your old apps, jailbroken apps and hacked ipa apps exactly as you previously had. I'm out at the mo and will write a proper in depth guide on a new post in the morning.
ps my guide is a few pages backLast edited by smeeshum; 09-13-2008 at 04:15 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

sweet I'll check it out.
UPDATE: seems the new pwnage doesn't like the 3g firmware linked to in the original post. Also leopard shows it as a folder, which shouldn't be happening. I'm trying to just download the new FW via iTunes, but now itunes 8 has decided to hate my iPhone (was working fine earlier) Gonna go find another usb cable to try it with
EDIT: it was just the dock, using the proper USB cable fixes the iTunes hating. Still updating phone via iTunes, a la smee's guide.Last edited by WillyDavidK; 09-13-2008 at 04:36 PM.

Hello folks,
I've read through all 16 pages. It appears that everyone has successfully ignored those of us with questions concerning the bootlaoder problems encountered while using Pwnage 2.1
I too am unable get my pwnage 2.1 to recognize bootlaoder 3.9. Now that the 2.1 frenzy has subsided, do you reckon someone could help remedy this dilemma?

Hey you guys i just got on the computer and am tryin to interpret how to do a successful update to 2.1 with a unlocked and jail broken 2.0.1 phone with tmobile. I pretty much got the jyst of it but i would like someone to check my work before i do it. so from my understanding i do this((?) means im confused on the subject):
update to itunes 8
update iphone to 2.1
uninstall itunes 8 and apple mobile support device
install itunes 7.7(?) why?
run quickpwn, with custom firmware image for 2.1 (?)
reboot, etc
get totalcommander and i pot
run tc and addon i pot
get the patch, backup old one then replace
delete /private/var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.apple.mobile.installation.plist
is that it? am i missing anything? how to i get all my stuff back on? will all my cydia apps still be on there? does the tzones hack still work? do i have to move any apps?

Smeeshum, quick question: the 2.1 MI patch you installed was necessary because your brick - right? Otherwise it aint necessary?

A simpler way would have been to use AptBackup, a Cydia app that makes a list of your Cydia apps and stores it in iTunes. You run the backup from AptBackup and then sync your phone with iTunes (thus backing it up). Then you upgrade to 2.1 and Quickpwn. As soon as you Quickpwn, you download AptBackup from Cydia again, restore your previous backup from iTunes, and run restore from AptBackup. Voila: your previous Cydia apps are automatically downloaded
No need to ssh, send files, change permissions, etc.iPhone 2G Pwned 3.1.2

just did my phone, works perfectly.
i upgraded to iTunes 8.0, downloaded the 2.1 FW provided at the top of the thread. use pwnage tool to create CFW 2.1, and just restored using the CFW from iTunes, works like a charm.
no more keyboard Lag, and it saves my keychains for Wifi, and passwords!
woot!
WoW + iPhone = Powned.
