Iphone Firmware 2.1 - Grab it While It's Hot

Mild curiosity because there seems to be some confusion and conflicting messages here.
I have a first generation iPhone unlocked and jailbroken (with Pwnage on Mac) running 2.0.2. My question is a if I update my iPhone through iTunes:
1. will it still be unlocked
2. will it work as before (will iTunes recognize it)
If the answers to 1 & 2 are yes what is the preferred method for upgrading (restore or update)?

You need to wait a little bit. It will stay unlocked, but you'll lose your jailbreak. Wait until the dev team releases the pwnage update.

It is another option like the shuffle.... but the Genius program only chooses songs that are similar in style, beet, sound, and melody.

So, if Im playing a RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE song, the next one wont be JACK JOHNSON.

has anyone tried to quickpwn the 2.1 firmware with a 2.0.2 firmware. Kinda the way they quickpwned the 2.0.2 firmware with the 2.0.1 firmware when it was first released?

I couldnt find it at first, but after you update/restore reboot the phone.

Currently on O2-UK with 3G and 2.1, havent really noticed much different apart from the Genius playlist creation and new 3G icon

I'm somewhat of a Noooob as well, and got a couple of "noobish" questions

I know I'm goign to lose Cydia and Installer, I got everything I wanted off of them anyways and don't use them anymore, I'm assuming that updating will wipe any 3rd party apps I got from Cydia and or Installer, winterboard, NES and my roms... etc.

I haven't been following the apple vs. pwnage dev teams and am not sure how quickly the dev team pwns apples updates. Can anyone ballpark an approximation of when 2.1 might be hacked?

OK, too late for me cause I just grabbed and updated to the 2.1 firmware and my phone was unlocked and jailbroke.....

Now what?? When I check the version it says 2.1 and when I plug my phone in it syncs and backs it up but I never get to my Springboard on the phone ... It keeps vibrating and rebooting every 4-5 minutes.....

I have a 2G 16gb iphone on 2.0.2. I've complained about my lock screen freezing and it continues to do so/be highly annoying. I've been told by a forum member to restore my phone and then update it with 2.1, which SHOULD solve the problem. Am I assuming correctly that I should do that(restore) when WINpwn is updated so it can be unlocked/jailbroken at the same time? Cheers.

hmm they released different firmwares for the 2g and 3g?

Being that it states that there are fixes to the 3G network, it makes sense for them to do this. This will probably be more common now that they realise people are PISSED about their 3G reception and they continue to make tweaks as time goes on...

this **** is awesome update man i got full 3g bars in my house before i used to get 2 only and plus they also changed 3g and edge icons. you gotta see how fast mail/sms/contacts launch dude.

ill wait til i get the okay from the dev team before doing this. the glitches on 2.0.2 are annoying but i can live with them a few more days til the dev teams says i can winpwn it cant wait!
