Ok I have the iPhone 3G and today when I updated to 2.1 FW from a 2.0.2 JB FW, when the iPhone 3G booted up it showed the unlock screen saying iPhone Activated....Ummm why did it say that? I never saw that before with previous FW upgrades? Im not gonna get charged for the crap again am I?

Well, I upgraded alright. Now my phone is stuck in an infinite reboot / vibrate mode. It has rebooted 9 times now and just sits here vibrating in pulses over and over and over and over. The loading icon pops up on the apple screen but freezes, then it reboots, then it does it all again.

As far as an update from a JB 2.0.1 3G device, straight to 2.1 upgrade from itunes 8, with back up works 100% it took about 45 min to completely back up my device but after that it took about 5-10 min to install 2.1 and everything is running 100% (not JBed)

It Is What It Is...

Download the 2.0.2 firmware for your phone (there are seperate firmwares for 2g & 3g) from the downloads sections @ the top of this site.
Go into iTunes and sync your iphone, hold down the shift button and click Restore. It will allow you to browse your computer for the firmware instead of automatically downloading the latest.
Hit the thanks button buddy

Confirmed as well, No issue in losing Activation and Unlock. Phone is running infinitely better than before, and the battery life truly is improved greatly. This is on another phone from a friend, not mine. (cant live without a JB)
