That's an incredibly arrogant comment, and I'm surprised to see it coming from a moderator of this forum.
For a start, sure, I like my iphone, but I wouldn't call it a real phone in a month of Sundays. It doesnt even come close to touching several phones released a year or more before. The only thing it does over most others is multi touch and a nice web browser.
Other than that it lacks a hell of a lot of features considered standard by now in "real phones".
I use e-mail sure, but without a data plan, which 99% of average phone users don't have, they can't send emails. Those incluned to send "MMS" generally aren't technologically inclined.
My point is, I want to send a picture of something "interesting" or "fun" to my girlfriend, now, she has a phone, that i bought her, because it's practical, does everything she needs and it's fairly simple to use.
Problem? I can't send her that picture, because I don't have MMS, can't send it to my dad, he doesn't use email on his N95, it receives MMS, on his N95 8GB, it receives MMS, on his iphone ... because the others receive MMS. My mum, she doesn't even use internet, or email, but she likes to receive MMS pictures etc.
I'm in the field of Electronic Engineering& Computer Science, so of course i can fix things my end, but most of my family and friends happen not to be so technologically inclined to be setting up email addresses and data plans just to receive a picture on their phone that is perfectly capable of receiving MMS, just because my phone can't send them.
If i want them to receive it in 6 hours when they get home from work and check their e-mail, sure, i'll sent it like that.
But not to worry, if I want them to see it now, I carry around a REAL phone, so I pull my N95 out and MMS them with that. Problem solved.
Sure I love having my emails on the go on my iphone, but lets face it, those who are most likely to want to send pictures of random things from their phone want to do it as simply as sending a text, and 99% of phone companies offer that right out of the box with no knowledge or effort from them required.NeO

MMS really isn't all that great to have. even with phones that had mms I rarely used the feature due to everyone that I know use email for evreything. Email is way better to use than mms and I don't think AT&T will be cool with the number of iPhones jogging bandwith because you want to mms a million people with silly pictures. and you talk about slow networks now
also A2DP won't be on this iPhone. maybe next gen and if you are so upset with apple and their products then there are pleanty of other products that will fit your taste(s).there's no need to complain and argue with each other about what shouldve been included and what shouldn't. we all knew what was coming in the phone and still bought it. so go ahrad and try anothet phone you'll be back though

you should not buy a product hoping that it is going to get upgraded. if you did not like the iphone in the first place why did you buy it? if you wanted mms buy a different phone. would you buy a car without a cd player hoping that they will upgrade it later? i would not, i got my iphone because i like it. if you dont then maybe you should not be so impulsive and get something "better" next time.

and i for one would agree with everyone else on mms, i think it should be added in the phone if you use it or not, it wouldnt take up that much space, and as we have seen, swirly mms took up like 1mb. thats not that bad. im not for either party on this one, im just saying to solve everyones arguing, just add it, and for those that will use it, let them. for those that wont, then nothing will change... simply put. thats my idea but hey what do i know

other MMS options on the way?
SwirlySpace.com • View topic - SwirlyMMS and firmware 2.x...
(read through about how AT&T blocks MMS traffic, so lame)
AT&T North America Send/Receive MMS support
(send MMS option coming soon?)
It appears that biteSMS (currently installed from Cydia) has an upcoming new feature to "Render incoming MMS messages in the conversation bubbles" That might be good enough for me if it works.
It also appears that biteSMS is even coming to the official appstore soon as well.
Upcoming New Features
-biteSMS for the AppStore (iPhone and iPod Touch)...
-Display and allow the actioning of embedded contact numbers, email addresses,
-Browser URLs and Map coordinates within an SMS text.
-Render incoming MMS messages in the conversation bubbles.
Finally, dont forget you can send messages to [email protected] if you dont know someones provider. www.teleflip.com (site down today? hmm)

This argument could go either way.
I do, although, agree with alias_neo on the non-technology inclined.
I talk to females (not generalizing) and they LOVE to text, send pictures in text, etc. I'd like to do it back in the same simple manner.
Simple, fast, no hassle... unlike emailing.
That's why I need MMS, for those that don't want to or simply CAN'T hassle with email/data plans/accounts/etc.
Thank you Swirly for filling in that gap.
F U Apple for not providing simple phone functionality. F Me for buying this phone. Thanks to the devs out there that make it actually worth the money I paid for it, without them, this thing would be useless.

our iPhone would not see it.
Apple doesnt believe in it and i dont too.
its a waste of time to send a MMS..
iPhone users just have to get used to it
uhh sooner or later
an MMS application will be made sooner or later and then u can see it.
but as of right now.
nothing .. its not an urgent importance to Apple... but the Battery/Crash Apps/Burning Heat/Signal/Backup is of course to EVERYONE.
i ma see how long it takes the Dev team to jailbreak it.
i estimate it less than 48 hours of them recieving the Firmware.

so you got an iphone hoping someone would hack it and make it work like you wanted it? after work i am going to buy a razr and yell at moto for not making it a touch screen

EXACTLY. sending MMS through email wouldn't be THAT bad if you didn't have to call and figure out which carrier the recipient has and THEN look up their carrier's email, and then hope that it works. and then they ask you, how do i send you a picture back? you tell them to send it to your email and they say, "i don't know how to do that!"
it's just a big circle of FAIL.
it would hurt ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to include a simple mms app on the phone. it would make people happy, and no one would be angry about it.
for the people saying that it's unnecessary, that may be true in YOUR CASE, but seeing as how this phone is supposed to appeal to the masses, shouldn't it include something that the majority of phones on the market currently support?
the way they've handled this phone makes me smh.
i love my iphone, i just have my gripes, just like everyone else.

my best friend had a baby yesterday and I went to visit at the hospital. Took a couple of pics of the baby and emailed it away to some friends. It was great and my first time sending pics from my phone as I just set up my hotmail thru izymail. Email was better than mms in this instance since it's better to view the pics on computer rather than a tiny little flip phone.

Can we move the mms discussion somewhere else? Or is it really related to this topic?
