I tried the ZiPhone first and my youtube didn't work. neither did the locate me functions of the maps. Then I restored back to the original apple firmware, and then used ijailbreak (http://ijailbreak.com/). that worked fine! youtube is up and running perfectly!

I synced my phone up this morning and just noticed iTunes (7.6.1) and the phone itself says I'm on 1.1.2 even though I upgraded to 1.1.3 a while ago (the day BEFORE Ziphone came out of course) and all the 1.1.3 functions are intact...and they both DID say 1.1.3 at the time....strange
Not sure WHAT caused it.

Does this version of itunes allow you to merge contacts/calenders etc?
I currently use 7.6.1 at work for calender/appointments and 7.5 I think at home for music and contacts - yet I have seen an option in 7.6.1 to merge info on the phone with existing information, basically allowing to sync with multiple computers?
Am I WAY behind the times on this one? So you can sync personal conacts from home then merge them with work contacts using the newer itunes??
Anyone tried this? Explain your situation if so.. thanks.

I was one of those people who forked out $300 HKD (I don't know how much that is in USD) for a turbosim (1.1.2 OTB) just before the ziphone came out so I was a bit iffy at first - I didn't want to flush the money down the toilet because I was fiddling with a new unlock.
But after a couple of tries (and only because of something stupid I did) and heartstopping moments when it seemed like my phone was going to brick, the phone is now 1.1.3 jailbroken, activated and unlocked.
The only thing I would state is that with all the compatability problems between third party apps and 1.1.3 (most which could be fixed by additional patches found on installer), it's not so much of whether to use ziphone, but whether you want to upgrade to 1.1.3 until some apps gets upgraded.

I know that 7.6 broke the 1.1.2 update process (oktoprep) .is this still broken?
02-28-2008, 01:38 PM #31
I don't think 7.6 broke Oktoprep. I used it a few weeks ago and 7.6 worked fine with it.
I maybe mistaken but I have never noticed that iTunes ever does break third-party stuff. That is mainly to do with the firmware. I always update iTunes as soon as it prompts me. I have had no problems yet, although now I have probably jinxed it!

I have 7.5.02, which allows you to do the old get a .m4a file, rename to .m4r, double click, and it copies to the library/syncs as a ringtone. Is this broken in this upgrade?
