i dont have mac, so i cant make custom firmware.

There is no reason why you can't use a PC to make a custom firmware.

1. Use winpwn 2.0.0.4 to make a custom firmware with 2.0.1
2. use itunes to upgrade to 2.0.2
3. use quickpwn to jailbreak

or/

1. use itunes to upgrade to 2.0.2
2. use latest version of quickpwn to jailbreak
3. use bootneuter to unlock

or/

1. Wait for winpwn 2.5 to be released (which is soon)

There are tons of guides on how to do this. You'll find most of them on MMi

i know that sir, but quickpwn for windows isnt working, because it doesnt go forward then firmware check, everyone is having this problem. And i could have used the 1st option u gave me, but i want my iphone 2g unlocked aswell.

It will be much easier for people like me who dont have mac.

So i really hope someone can make a custom firmware and upload a link here.

easy way to fix permissions without remote access via ssh
install terminal.app from cydia...

run terminal app
type su
pass alpine
then cd ..
then type exactly below
chmod 777 -R Keychains
(ack and I forgot os x client is case insensitive? maybe the caps doesn't matter..)

So... I tried to PWN my 3G with the new package after going through all the steps and restoring to the custom firmware, I can't get a cel signal. This happened when I tried to PWN it with the 2.0 compatible version of PWNGE. Anybody else have this problem?

Following are the problems faced after using the custom firmware create by Pwange 2.0.3.. it cannot remember the mobile me password and the wifi password, as it seem does not register to the database....

can anyone help me out.....i got an original iphone on at&t, i tried making a custom firmware with the new pwnage tool many times with various setting and no matter what i do, when i restore with that custome firmware, it just keeps rebooting, never actualling loading up all the way

tried that as well, and doesnt work, just keeps flipping on off like its rebooting

not really, chief. i've JB every firmware up to 2.0.1 and havent had this happen.

Make sure you are in DFU mode before you restore. Your other option would be to restore to the stock apple firmware first, then restore to the custom firmware (in DFU).

Now this is a strange one, updated it fine, but, everytime I plug in my iPhone iTunes only wants to restore from a previous back up a new iPhone. No way of getting my music to synch ........ any ideas ??

i have the same problem , an and my Mail its not working.

If you have a legitimate iphone contract and build a firmware that pre-activates the phone (and YouTube) you will not get service. Use iTunes to activate. I need more info than "my mail doesn't work". First you need to make sure you're not setting up the phone from "back-up" in iTunes. If that doesn't work download bossprefs and use the "fix user permissions" button.

Install OpenSSH and then apply a chmod 777 to /var/Keychains.

Worked for me to repair problems with voicemail, e-mail, and wifi problems.
