[Rumor] iPod Touch Firmware 2.1 and iTunes 8 in 3-4 Weeks
Do ya'll know who Kevin Rose is? He's the co-founder of Digg. These days he seems to have a hobby of making predictions of what Apple is going to do next. His latest great super secret info says that the iPod Touch will have firmware 2.1 and iTunes 8 will be released in the next 3-4 weeks.
Of course if history repeats itself don't hold too much weight in this rumor -- Kevin isn't on a great streak with his most recent predictions.
- The iPhone 3g would have a front facing camera Nope
- The iPhone 3g would be launched in June Nope
- The iPhone 3g would be launched the second week of June Nope
- A low-end iPhone would be added to the lineup for the price of $200 coinciding with the 3g launch So close, except subsidizing, not a cheap low-end version so Nope

I am sooooo with fletch33. I got my iPhone just the way I like with 2.0 and that's why it keeps me from doing it all over again.... maybe I will do it again if 2.1 is out but not for 2.0.1 or 2.

Wait I am confused, you stated iPod Firmware 2.1, not iPhone. We can't use iPod firmware on the iPhone. So your thinking their dropping another firmware for the iPhone too?

No, he specifically said in the video that the iPod touch would be the first device to get the FW 2.1, but that the iPhone will get it 'shortly thereafter'
So can we assume most of this will happen during the WWDC keynote?

Lol, get 'em vinny! But to clarify it does say the gps will be a feature of the next gen ipod touch, not an update

in the realsase of beta 2 they added the feature and clearly stated:
TURN-BY-TURN GPS
It clearly works and finds me and follows u
I wish I can upload pics/vies but Apple told us not too :/
UPDATE:
Copy and Paste will be coming to iPhone in 2.1 and is being tested as we speak!
So far you can highlight and copy/paste
More feastures like moving text coming soon!
Please respond and tell what u want
So far along side with copy and paste u also want to try:
Change font
Change color
Change size
All on top of the keyboard (like the bar that says [previous, next, and done] )
Well keep u updated with what I can!Last edited by minivinny95; 08-25-2008 at 11:42 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Obviously they can't integrate gps into the 2G iphone, but I thought maybe he meant gps support on the iPhone 3G over Edge. It seems I'm hardly ever able to get a gps signal unless I have a 3G connection. Maybe that has nothing to do with it, but just a thought.

GPS using google maps maybe?
-

yes that is what we meant, we will realse an update in 2.1 for Google Maps with fixes, fatser on 3G and EDGE, turn by turn for 2G (original) iPhone and more advance locate me with motion detection so when u move the dot indicator on your iPhone will move too giving more pin-point accuracy and easier location.
We are testing this and it is working awesome.
I will keep you updated!!
Thank You.
