The Worlds "deadliest hackers" Can't Crack Airtel's iPhone 3g
In the shadow of India's recent iPhone release with insane prices one of the two carriers in India has made a claim. According to Airtel "even the most deadly hackers on the planet won't be able to crack the codes that support the iPhone's Airtel applications with rival company SIMs."
Airtel supposedly worked with Apple to make carrier specific iPhone applications for their iPhones. Apparently they are pretty proud of their work and think that no one will figure out how to use their applications on other networks. What do you think?

I never thought hackers are 'deadly' :P
Btw, the claims are ok for the time being as 3G baseband is not unlocked yet using software solutions. But it's only a matter of time..

Airtel is a network in my country and I ensure that they are just trying to scare ya all. There are really good hackers which can do anything and everything like George Hotz and DevTeam!

aw reeko beat me to the titanic quote. Was gonna mention their quote sounds a little like the infamous "Even God can't sink this ship". Way to attract a LOT of negative attention to yourselves, and open yourselves up to look like idiots guys!

Nothing is impossible this seems to be a challenge which will drive the best of hackers to work on this where as they may not have before hope someone proves them wrong!

Yeah, since not EVERYONE stays glued to the e-news or their PC, I'd like to say thanks MMi for posting this.
Why are people so arrogant about when something was posted? Do you HAVE to be a douche because they didn't post this news 2-3 seconds after it was released as opposed to it being 2-3 days? WHO CARES! Not EVERYONE reads the wngadget rss feed or site.

I don't think there's much(read: anything) out there that's 'un-hackable'

they are so stupid for saying that. I bet every die hard hacker wants to be the 1st to do it. I want them to do it. Could you hack it and then sue for false advertising?

How far off is india's frequency band? I'll stuff 600 app store apps on a cd and an unlocked 8gb phone and mail it over to someone just to piss them off
If it is all in the firmware and apps, then change the firmware and apps...... right?
"we have this awesome FW and apps just for india,......... but no one is using it"
