    has nothing to do with AT&T. Problem exists on other carriers as well. AT&T may not have the best network, but the signal issue persists in the heart of heavily covered 3G areas. Latest update seemed to help but my only gripe is that they charge a mandatory 3G data service, even if you can't get 3G. Not agreeing the lawsuit is right or anything, but Apple is relentless for ignoring its customers in these situations and needs something like this to make them listen.

    Coverage maps aren't infallible, they're only an estimate. It also comes down to geography and nearby buildings. I myself get 2G upstairs but 3.5G downstairs with my SE w760.

    i'm just hoping that all this commotion about the bad 3g radios will put in a new chip and maybe 1700MHz support to?

    Then i'll buy the 3G.

    This **** is dumb.
    It is twice as fast and it is half the price.
    Now if AT&T says that which they do on there website she should sue them.
    The iPhone hardware and software wise is capable of being twice as fast and apple sold them at half the price. Now AT&T's crappy 3G network isn't twice is fast = SUE and AT&T plan isn't half the price it's actually more = SUE.

    So **** AT&T not Apple.
    Though if this brings more firmware updates then more power to her.
    She's going to be milked with a counter-suit and have to pay Apple Attorney fee's.

    Yea let's sue! Shut the Eff up! This country is going down fast with lazy, "They Owe Me Something", get rich fast- Morons. If your phone doesn't work take it back, and don't take no for an answer. If your car blows up and Ford knowingly put in a plastic gas tank, then sue the **** out of them. I own my own company, and the iPhone is the only phone device I have. It has dropped many calls, not recived all texts and mail. But That is life, and without this device although sometimes it seems untrue for me, it is not Life or Death. I mean if you want to sue somebody or something start with the FDA, most people are so blinded and sheltered it is scary, the iphone should be the least of your worries! Sexual Chocolate.

    The idea is interesting but poor. ATT owns the towers that produce signal and such... And if you buy a phone thinking that no matter where you are that your gonna get high speed 3G internet... You only kidding yourslef. Ive been in some huge cities throughout the U.S. and even in places like airports 3G isnt all impressive. So really the phones not to blame. But ATT.

    How can we get involved in this lawsuit they false advertised maybe even released phone to early i have first gen iphone and works allot getter than 3g iphone we r supposed to be moving forward do they test there product in different parts of the country or just in cali. really apple and at&t had to work closely through out this project so they had to know about these issues it is straight up FALSE ADVERTISING giving the consumer false hopes.

    You know I really don't understand the issue here. My 3g coverage sucks too, but it literally takes me 5 seconds to turn off the 3g and let the phone switch over to edge. Not one dropped call on edge.

    WoW first it was the battery sue now this lol i say again LOL..... Off topic i just notice i was talking to my friend and i had no bars on 3G was talking away when i looked at my phone and it shows full bars but no 3G it switched to edge without me knowing but didnt drop my call so the update is working great for me and much faster heheheh...

    First of all, while the lawsuit might not go anywhere, Apple has already admitted there is a problem by releasing this latest firmware to help fix the reception issue. Therefore they have acknowledged that there is a legitimate issue and can't really point the finger completely at AT&T.

    For your simple jacks

    As for what you said, Real Ritzcracker, by Apple advertising that it was twice as fast as the old iPhone, they are stating that (since in this country the only carrier is AT&T) on that network, the phone WILL be twice as fast. This means they could be sued for false advertising. They did not say that it CAN be twice as fast, they said it IS twice as fast.

    Also, I might be WAY off base on this, but 3G means absolutely nothing when calling. That is mainly data speeds, so the fact that reception is lost has more to do with the strength of the antenna to tower, correct? Edge and 3G shouldn't be a determining factor on whether or not I drop a call. In that case, Apple's claim that the phone is much faster is true and has nothing to do with the reception issue. For those that argue that when your phone goes from 3G to Edge and you drop a call, you need to understand why that is. If a certain tower broadcasts 3G speeds, but the next tower to come across only has Edge, it's possible in transition from one to the next that it can drop the call because of the delay from switching towers, not in switching data speeds.

    If anyone has anything to add to this, feel free to comment.

    If you compare the 3G service with other AT&T phones you will quickly realize that it's an iPhone issue.. NOT an AT&T network issue. I used a Blackjack with 3G and it was AMAZING in all the same places where my iPhone 3G sucks. It's def Apple's fault in conjunction with the crappy Inferion (?) chip set.

    People like this don't really care about the "speed of their phone". They see a large glistening amount of money sitting in Apple's bank account, and decide that they for some reason deserve it.
    Sure if she wins the suit she'll probably get a good amount of cash, but I for one would not want to be known as the guy that got his fortune from suing Apple. This mindset in the United States that the justice system should be used for personal gain is what causes all the "political corruption" everyone whines about. Except when its you getting the check, it's not corruption.
    Send a strong letter, take back your phone, buy a new phone! Complaining shouldn't be hushed by reward.
