The single most important need for copy/paste would have to be the WPA Key in the factory settings app. I am SO TIRED of entering 64 byte randomly-generated keys!! Anyone else running this type of security can attest to the frustration when you FINALLY finish typing and hit OK and it is wrong.....again. That is the worst. When that ability comes I will get excited.

I wouldn't call this the "Ultimate Solution."
While this is a step in the right direction, it won't solve all your problems.
For instane, if someone sends you a long name in a text message that you want to email to another friend, you won't be able to copy & paste it.
What Zac was pressing at the end of the interview, was that he is trying to get developers to start thinking about how they would use C&P and to start designing their UI for it.

Like the presentation, but not the chick noise.
Like Dash said, developer could like into a way to copy and paste from SMSs.
Keyboard-menu tool options is really cool, imo.
Do they also include "Undo", "Redo" right?
And wish that someone mobs the keyboard and font (or whatever) to show smiles faces.

THANK YOU! thats what i'm screamin'!
and for the (off topic) record, i think cali did a great job hosting that video. she was talking fast in order to get a lot of info into a 3 minute clip, and if she hadn't then everyone would be all "oooh, video was too long blah blah" cuz people on the internet only have 3 minute attention spans (myself included). she sounded totally pro though. you guys are just mad she knows more about iphones than you! haha

Wow, I've been watching GBTV for almost 2 years now, so it was really weird seeing geekbrief and MMi in the same place o_0 For the record, Cali has actually slowed down her speech some over time. In the early briefs people complained a lot about it, but I think the pace she is at now is perfect. People tend to underestimate how quickly they can interpret dialogue.
Anyways, I think the candidate interface is beautiful, and very well thought out. Clearly they have put a lot of thought into it, and I hope Apple takes this seriously. If they could respond to an uproar of whining about poor signal reception that wasn't even their fault, surely they should be able to implement something such as this interface, when half of the work has already been done for them! Please, apple
Until then, yay for unofficial patching!!Last edited by WillyDavidK; 08-22-2008 at 12:37 AM.

That is pretty sweet. Their ideas for the copy and paste interface is pretty sweet as well. Kudos to the guys developing it.

REQUEST: MagicPad Framework Load on Startup
Someone needs to take the UI framework and allow it to load on startup. Yes i know it will only work on hacked phones and may take up some more processes but it would be very minimal and work across all apps. Possibly add the magicpad ui framework to the keyboard framework. I tried looking for it to see if i could start at startup but then heard the framework is built into the app.
Any Ideas????????????
