After that I came out of DFU mode like you explain it and wonder !

Just did three phones that were using the custom 2.0 firmware...this is what i did.
1. Downloaded WINPWN 2.0.0.4
2. Updated my itnunes to the latest version (7.7.1)
3. Downloaded OEM 2.0.1 firmware for 2g iphone
4. installed program
5. opened the factory firmware using WINPWN.
6. created my custom firmware (selecting CYDIA and INSTALLER but increasing the partition size to 1000mb)
7. Created custom firmware no problems
8. PWNED itunes

For everyone having problems like I was with 2G firmware and 2.0.1 (constant error 6 and ISPW build problems try increasing the partition size to 1000mb.. seems to be working for a few people now and since Cydia crashes most 500mb partition settings I think it's definately related.

1000mb setting fixed two problems for me:
1) WinPWNd crashing during ISPW build
2) Error 6 upon Itunes Restore (tried everything else including USB ports, different computers, XP and Vista... DFU modes.. etc).

After increasing partition size to 1000mb both problems FIXED instantly.

BTW, I used 3G 2.0.1 firmware with cydia and non-unlock and non-activate boxes checked with standard 500mb partition and I didnt get errors... so the 2G firmware with possibly unlock and activate must give more problems/bugs

you get unknown error 6 because when you are retoring with the custom firmware 2.0.1 your ipod touch isnt in dfu mode. dfu mode isnt when you see the usb cable with an arrow to itunes picture.

you have to put your ipod into dfu mode. i had this problem when i was using the 2.0 firmware. make sure when you click restore that the screen on your iphone/itouch is black and that your computer is still reading your iphone/itouch.

Also if youve already pwned your phone successfully once, you just need to put your phone into normal restore mode (power off, Hold home and plug in. Release home once itunes logo shows up), and shift + restore to the custom file you have created with the correct items checked.

Note: The reason for this, I just updated 2 phones (2G's) to 2.0.1 using this method with just using a custom file because I already had a pwned phone on 2.0 I still havent used winpwn 2.0.0.4 But this probably wont work if youve restored to an OEM 2.0

Im not sure you can use just a custom firmware, you say pwned. But does that mean with Ziphone, iLiberty etc etc? If so you have to use winpwn to do this and go by their step by step.

Yea...Done the whole DFU mode stuff...I don't normally post on here because i usually just read a lot of the posts and I'm able to jailbreak my iPhone with no problems...this time i am stuck though...i tried it again and got the error 6 msg...going to try the 1000mb fix...i'll post back with an update if that worked...thanks for the reply...

i know this may have been asked but i cant seem to find the right answer. im on a jailbroken 1.1.3 and i want to update to the latest firmware and would want to be jailbroken along with it. i was just wondering if i have to update to 2.0.1 and then use the latest winpwn to be jailbroken? or do i have to restore to 2.0.1 and then use winpwn? i also read that i may have to restore to 2.0 then update to 2.0.1 then jailbreak with winpwn? ive searched and i either do not get an answer or the answer doesnt' seem right. any help is much appreciated. thank you in advance!

Keep holding home and power, you will get it out eventually. release power still holding home, and try clicking power over and over while still holding home, continue these kinds of combinations, release both and hold again etc etc. if the simple 30 second method doesnt work. It will eventually come out of DFU.

Nope the new winpwn i think has support for older firmwares, so you should be able to create a custom ispw with winpwn using a downloaded OEM 2.0.1 from this site. Run a search in the downloads section you should be able to find one. The Dev team specifically suggests not upgrading to a factory first.
Make sure you have itunes 7.7 and you are running the newest winpwn (2.0.0.4) as administrator since you are on Vista
