RaMod,
Just wanted to let you know the operation "smooth operator" has been completed. Downloaded the UnPwnd from the link you provided, created my own following this tutorial http://www.********************/2008...-20-jailbreak/ (in case someone else needs it... using this guide you shouldnt have any questions) and now my iPhone is back up and running on a Pwnd 2.0.1 firmware
* GPS works without needing to turned wifi / edge / 3g off
* Auto-Lock works
* Emails work (just start from scratch and let iTunes synch your contacts and apps you may have downloaded from the App store)
- Installer crashes often but it is expected as it is a Beta version.
- Cydia has crashed more frequently than it did in 2.0 but it still works.

Just to confirm:
16GB 3G O2UK iPhone running 2.0 had NOT previously been pwnd
Successful pwnage with winpwn to pwnd 2.0.1
Email Working
Locations Working
GPS Working
Installer Working (but buggy)
Cydia Working
Intelliscreen working
Wifi working
The only issues I seem to be having are that my iTunes often crashes during syncs
Note: I did NOT restore a backup. I believe that a lot of people are experiencing problems when restoring from a backup. I started from scratch again and everything seems to be working.

Finally got it all working after my brain fart about the activation check. Only issue I seem to have us that my contacts won't seem to sync. I use mobile me and everything else sync'd but contacts. Any thoughts? Thanks for all the help guys.

Is it worth it to upgrade a pwned phone to the latest firmware? I've read lots of the posts here and it seems that it is a hit or miss proposition.

Same here but as stated before, it is a beta app so bugs are expected.
I for instance get that same error and when trying to click on certain apps i get "error: unable to decode package more info at http://***Web Address***
I also tried downloading Monkey Ball which did downloaded successful but after finishing the download and installer tried to install the app i got "error: failed script command on line 1: CopyPath"
My suggestion will be to stay away from downloading apps using installer until a new update gets released and stick to Cydia for now

First to verify you own a Mac right? It's impossible for /tmp to not be there. If it isn't then you have some more severe problems and your Mac probably won't even boot (I would be surprised if it did).
First try this in a terminal window:
1. sudo -s
2. df -k / (the capacity should be under 95%)
3. if capacity is over 95% then delete files in your documents directory, downloaded files etc to free up space.
4. ls -la /tmp (you should see /tmp -> private/tmp)
5. cd /private/tmp
6. If it doesn't exist then create with
a. mkdir /private/tmp
b. chown root:wheel /private/tmp
c. chmod 1777 /private/tmp
d. ln -s /private/tmp /tmp
7. If /private/tmp exists then only do
a. ln -s /private/tmp /tmp
8. rebootLast edited by imode; 08-11-2008 at 01:35 AM.
