I have been really impressed by how committed at&t is to the new iPhone launch. But I just realized that the 2000 temporary employees they've hired works out to a bit more than one per store. Now, if my local supermarket hired a temporary worker to help with the release of a new brand of Skippy, I doubt anyone would write an article about that.

Well a certain amount of the them will be retained after launch to become the new product professionals that will help customers learn how to use their new equipment. They've needed this for a long time. Someone needs to show customers how to sync their phones, enter new phone numbers in their phone book and how to check their email or send text messages. If they want to truly be the leader in the industry, this will be good first step.

That learning curve is a big obstacle for current phones. For the iPhone to be the truly revolutionary product that we hope it will be, they will need to make sure that customers like my aunt or dad, who don't even know if their phone has 'net access, get comfortable using safari and mail.

The other test for me will be when I see the long line for tickets to Pirates 4 and I don't hesitate to pull out my iPhone and pop over to Fandango and order my tickets. With my phone now, I DREAD using the internet and that is why I will be lining up for my iPhone!

Yah, good point about current phones net capability. Fandango on my Razr Maxx is a nightmare of T9 and slowly loading web pages.

I don't have much access to WiFi, so I hope that using EDGE isn't too much of a drag...
