If let the developer of the apps that you are changing, Im sure that they will take the old serial off the list and add the new one. Just try to write down settings and apps on some paper so you can try to replicate it on your new phone...

i have got another big crack in my white phone. this is the second time now. i'm taking it back today. i have serious doubts they will freely swap this time. i'm sure they will have taken note of my previous return and will think i'm trying it on.
i'm hoping with the backlog of old phones and making space for the inevitable new phone in june they will just swap without making too much fuss, but i have a feeling they will be touchy because it's my second time. i'll be furious if they don't and will cause a massive scene.
this problem does seem to have gone away though. not heard about cracks for a while.
i'll post results tomorrow as i'm out all day and night.

oh well. the first time they played dumb. now the genius said they knew about the ongoing problem and are looking into it. bollocks!!
but i got a new phone for the 2nd time. as long as there is no sign of droppage it seems your fine.
i have never seen such an ugly bunch of fanboys in one store. and........they know eff all.
i think it's a pre-requisite to know as little as possible about apple to get a job in the UK.
sorry about the grammar, but don't call me out.Last edited by fluffer; 04-07-2009 at 06:53 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I've had my iPhone 3G for a couple of months and I haven't noticed any cracks on it. I've got it really protected (Invisible Shield plus protective case). I'm hoping everyone who had a cracked iPhone got replacements because for something that expensive, it shouldn't get cracked, unless you treat it really, really bad. Hopefully this doesn't happen with the new iPhone.

I'm with ya Stealth. As much as I love my 3G I wish it didn't have the plastic.

Just noticed a few cracks near the headphone jack and silence switch. Took 8 months of some pretty hard use and several drops before it started getting cracks. Think this may be an opportunity for a new colored back.

If I've helped you, you can help me by clicking on that Thanks button.

I will also include my sad fate along with the rest of you, first there was a very slight crack on the top beside the headphone jack, now it has increased to a small portion (piece) almost coming off. There goes the resale value! :S wanted to sell it buy the 3GS (now that jailbreak is inevitable)
. guess going to hold on to it for a while now, still love IT!!

Apple replaces them with no questions asked!
Search Google for "Custom Firmware 3.1.2" if you don't have a Mac and are using Windows!

Three words: "bar of soap." First time I felt my friend's 2G iPhone, I thought it was the most slippery cell phone I had ever held. It was almost like your hands HAD to be sweaty to grip it without it slipping out of your hand. And I wasn't a big fan of the two-toned deal. And I think the aluminum actually disrupted service, cause often I will be sitting next to a friend with a 2G and he will have 2 or 3 less bars than me. Physical appeal was almost non-existant to me for the first iPhone, save for that gorgeous screen, but we got that in the new ones too.
EDIT: Wait a sec...I just posted in a bumped 3-month old thread? *cuts self*Last edited by n00neimp0rtant; 11-17-2009 at 07:06 PM.

I had a iphone 3g over 8 months and I had the zagg protector on but it doesnt protect the area around the charging part and headphone jack. I never had the issue. You guys should learn to love your phone more. I never drop my phone. I protect it with my life.
