Thread: iPhone 3g Cracked

If this happens to mine I will s***. I am really not happy at all with the 3g, which is the reason I still haven't sold my first gen. Terrible service, slow 3g(this is probably ATT's fault), shoddy gps, phone seems to lag...a lot, and now the cases are cracking. At the rate we're going, the next "feature" will be that they catch fire randomly.

ya because the old one had antennas only at the bottom, hence only the bottom had to be plastic, since the 3g radio and gps thing were at the top it was either the whole thing be plastic or just a lil at the top and a lil at the 'd bottom(that would be g'd up though)
anyways, i havent had cracking but my dang silent button fell off the second day i had it, i thought about sending it back but i wanted one soon so i figured id wait a lil bit till they were easly and widely available

Mine has no issues at all... I've loved it from the start.

the new 3g is not better in signal strength, in fact it is worth comparing to the 1st generation iPhone, also the phone response sucks

no cracks, dropped waaaay more than it should
I have no cracks so far. It's fallen out of my shirt pocket plenty of times. Yesterday my gf took my phone away because i was doing something on it. She put it on her lap, when we went to leave she forgot about it and it fell on hard tile. I'm glad it didn't crack!!! Oh yeah, i forgot to put on the case also.

I've had mine since the first day it came out also, no cracks at all. It all comes down to how you take care of it. I've seen people with 1st gen. Phones who have bent and cracked them. It is what it is, the phone has better speakers , real gps, and faster Internet (3g). With a plastic back, so if you take care of it you should be fine. Get a cover if it worries you that much!

no wonder its cheap...apples quality control yet to blame again..
i guess they didnt really test them that well..could be that the plastic backplate is made out of cheap materials..

Yes yes yes yes!!! iCould careless, iStill have my first gen iPhone, thanks to AT&T high data rate. i'M good with payin' my $70 bucks a month and my 1,700+ rollover minutes. iHope this dilemma forces Apple to go back to the lab and redesign this sucker. iDon't know why they didn't toss a camera on the front and a 32GB model. Apple iS over there stuck on stupid iTell you.
-sent from my iPhone

Don't sit on your phone and you'll be fine. No cracks here. Sick of hearing people saying that 1st gen is better, when in fact it is an inferior product. Stop trying to justify that your 1st gen is better just because you can't afford a new one or didn't get out soon enough to get one.

I have a 3g on order from ATT but with all of the cracked phones, I'm tempted to send it back when it comes in.

I feel plastic is better than metal.. both my Iphone 1 and Cannon camera;s with metal cases look like crap after dents, dings, excessive scratches... etc
THe plastic versions of each simply hold up better. No dents, no dings, no cracks under same abuse as the metal versions... Thin metal should not be used on anything that is a case for someting... DUH
