Wow thats a pretty bold statement, REVOLUTIONIZED

I mean if we're giving credit to companies for revolutionizing the way we interface with computers you might as well give the credit to Xerox, they're the ones that truly invented the GUI that Steve and Bill eventually copied in their own OSes.
As for Copy and Paste on the iPhone, I believe it would have to do with exactly how many patents MS has on the way they do it with the PocketPC. I mean when you fired up any newly bought PPC, one of the first things they made you go through was the Copy and Paste tutorial. I don't ever remember going through that on any of my Palm Pilots, heck, did Palm even have Copy and Paste?
We got exchange and push sooner that Copy and Paste so you have to wonder just how deep MS' patents on their methodology actually go.

its not really useful where we need it
i agree, anyone ever tried to send someone a text message of a number in their contacts? The only way to do it, is to memorize the number and type it in manually! WFT is that apple!! I think every phone ever created has had the ability to send your contacts to others...Seriously anyone EVER heard of a phone that can't do that?
Cut and paste needs to either be attached to all keyboards within the system or specifically within Safari, SMS, email and contacts at the very least to be considered useful.
I won't be buying this app, i don't need it. I don't think anyone does.
Close but SOO far...

Will apple allow apps that change original GUI such as Customize, or game console emulators like gpsPhone or psx4iPhone? They won't let it pass even if the developer wish to make it free. And because of that, we need a 3rd party developer community.
Without 3rd party community, users are at the mercy of Apple deciding what apps we can use or not. In other words, we lose control over the phones we paid for.

I think the point of this app is to first of all, have a rich text editor with copy/paste, which will be useful in SOME instances, but also to demonstrate to apple how it could be done easily and gracefully. Once it's available in the App Store, the pressure will be on apple to incorporate it into 2.1

Try this:
1. go to appstore and install any flashlight app (actually there are a lot).
2. adjust your phone's brightness to MINIMUM.
3. open the flashlight up downloaded from appstore.
4. Now, can you call it a flashlight? will it be useful?
Now, try this (if your phone is jailbroken):
1. look for a flashlight app (by bigboss) in Cydia and install it.
2. make sure your phone's brightness is set to MINIMUM.
3. run the flashlight app downloaded from Cydia.
4. Now that's very useful (or at least for me).
The reason:
AppStore doesnt allow 3rd party apps to modify any system UI/settings hence the flashlights there doesn't adjust the brightness to maximum. This is just one of the reasons why we need Cydia/Intaller to install awesome apps like Customize, Summerboard (not sure if it will be ported), and a lot more.
I hope you get it now.

Thing is Installer/Cydia apps are unapproved Apple apps, so you don't know what they do to your iPhone.
Well for me there were many apps that always ended up crashing my iPhone and many times causing me to jailbreak and unlock again (thank god zibri was always there when my iPhone got messed up). Anyway most apps from 3rd party installers are soon going to start costing.

the only problem with incorporating it with the keyboard would technically "modify" apples firmware. I see no problem with this but once the app is released I can take a look at how they do it and maybe host on cydia! Stay Tuned.....

Well, Xerox might have done it first, but i think that the lisa os was revolutionary, and copy/paste was a big feature. I can't imagine ms has ownership over copy/paste, considering its been a feature in nearly every major OS ever. (yes all palm systems have cut/paste, as do ppc's and sidekick's danger os. Did newtons have it?) Since when was changing the way the entire human race interfaces with the technology that they use every day NOT revolutionary?
i was writing this post on my iphone. but then i HAD to have copy/paste to do all this quoting so i had to move back to my desktop. /facepalm
LOL. truer words have never been spoken.Last edited by b3nny; 08-01-2008 at 11:17 AM.
