I've seen some dumb comments before but that takes the cake

Enough bashing on someone's worthless comment. No need to clutter the thread, keep posting with thoughts on the idea at hand. Copy and Paste is a necessity for the iPhone as a general utility, we all know that, but this is just a great step in the right direction. Now if someone can figure a way to store cache on the phone for multiple use while opening a new application, then being able to relocate the cache and reuse for pasting, that my friend, will be the milestone.

The problem will be that this app will not be free. I mean would you give away one of the most waited for features for the iphone. So to have to pay for something that should already be there is crazy. Not to mention that it is limited to one app and not universal to the whole phone keyboard interface.

Not that simple. Apple store doesn't allow apps that modify the UI in any way, are based on low-level IO (like swirlyMMS) or run as root etc. These apps will need to be hosted somewhere such as Cydia or Installer.

But that's all moot really since this is totally off topic

i'm pretty sure apple has this one figured out. i mean come on, this has been used in their own systems since... OS 9, no wait, system 7, no wait system 6, NO WAIT. SINCE 1981, WHEN THEY VIRTUALLY REVOLUTIONIZED THE PERSONAL COMPUTING INDUSTRY (the second time) with Lisa OS. from Cut, copy, and paste - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia : "Apple Computer widely popularized the computer-based cut-and-paste paradigm through the Lisa (1981) and Macintosh (1984) operating systems and applications."

my favorite part is the clipboard.app at the bottom of the desktop. apple's pretty sure we won't need that on our iphone. and it musta been a waste of time for apple to put scrapbook.app right in the apple menu for all those years...

cliche as it may be at this point, it must be said again: wtf apple?

all that said, i don't think anyone means to diss the developer, they've obviously done good, hard work on this app. but f*ck the app store (and f*ck apple), lets bring this over to installer where it can be done right, and lets fix this flabbergasting oversight once and for all so that i don't ever have to have that conversation with my friends again where i say how my iphone can do EVERYTHING my pocket pc could ever do plus some... except copy and paste. and chat in landscape. /facepalm

Umm. It's only one of the most waited for features if it is system wide. Der. I bet it's free or very cheap.

Besides agreeing with the obvious comments everyone has made about bringing copy and paste functionality to all aspects of the phone, this is at least is a closer step towards that development for the global function.

Without condoning software piracy, cloning, reverse engineering, or stealing code, maybe a developer could use this program towards making a free app for all of us distributed through cydia/installer.

Why are you even on this site?

It would be nice to have this PERMANENTLY modify the keyboard (e.g. like the chinese character recognition that some fellow did for 1.1.4) so that this is available in all apps (don't know how it would work selecting text in a non-editing part, though).

Now for the really bad part: WHY FORCE US TO ENTER A CAPCHA????? I hate those things. It is MY telephone, why do I need to authenticate myself as a person to send an email from my phone????

zxmustang: Nothing has f"&',d up my phone more than app store apps. They are so protected by code that they all freeze if you mod one! Let alone the fact that Apple has forbidden the best apps from their store. Next time, don't be so so quick to speak. Think about all aspects first.

If this app is to be on the appstore shouldn't it, in the spirit of MMi, be free. If not why is it even being discussed here. This app, if it works as well as the video shows, is great and should be available to everyone - not just those who have $.99-59.99 to spend on glorified widgets.

Is it possible/(likely) for an app to be on all three repos ie: Installer,Cydia and appstore?

Great work Proximi. Sorry to be so negitive (Rough Day )
    Thanks,

    Timbo
