Well... it doesn't matter anymore if you wait until SDK launch to release the jailbreak because you already told the public you have done it.

Apple will now spend the next month analyzing every possible security flaw, some of which the Dev team may have not even noticed, thus creating the next update more secure than ever before. (If they knew the security flaw, they would probably just patch it, but now, in hopes of finding it, they will probably find many others...)

I mean, it took 1 day to break the last update and 4 days to jailbreak this update. Why wait over a month to release the jailbreak if you are confident in your ability to break into the iPhone?

Isn't that where the Dev team gets all their enjoyment? The challenge of breaking into the new iPhone update?

Just my tidbit... but hey, you guys found the jailbreak so do whatever you like.

    SWEET!

Good news. It does make sense that they would just want to get the method down 100%.

This does not upgrade you or anything. All this does is make your iPhone think your firmware is 1.1.3, so not only could you possibly trick someone, it also fools iTunes into thinking your phone has the latest firmware, so it wont really download and install 1.1.3...

You bring up a good point, but the fact that it wont be released till after the SDK/probable new firmware update will hopefully keep Apple away from being to fix this exploit. Although, if they do fix this exploit, it pretty much puts all of this work to waste and the dev team will be right back to square 1...

I don't really care much about the new features except the google maps. Is there anyway to copy this and put it into 1.1.2?

I agree that they should probably go ahead and release it now rather than FEB., but I think Apple has a more laid back approach to the hacking scene rather than say, Sony with the PSP
I mean afterall, the new firmware update even unbricks iPhones. Apple will keep putting loopholes in their software as long as there are people who will look for them.

Default With a few 1.1.3 jailbroke phones out there.....
Shouldn't we be able to extract any of the new 1.1.3 updates and package them to be installed through installer?

my guess is that the jailbreak method for 1.1.3 will hit the web waaaayyy before the SDK is released. so when it does will modmyi cover the story or respect the dev teams wishes?

i dont care either way 1.1.3 isnt a big deal to me since i have most of that stuff already
