1.1.2 Hardware Unlocked by GeoHotz. Software unlock on the way...

GeoHotz, famous for unlocking the first iPhone, has posted his instructions on hardware unlocking the 1.1.2 OTB iPhone on his blog. If you have a 1.1.2 OTB and have been waiting, wait just a few more days - hardware unlock is all well and good, but the dev team will have a new version of AnySIM working with OTB 1.1.2 iPhones very soon now that GeoHotz has sorted the hardware unlock.

Since the 1.1.3 firmware does come with a new boot loader as well, we may be waiting til 1.1.4 for an unlock to happen for 1.1.3 OTB. Jailbreak will be sooner, though.

Well, I have a question. In Apple, only people with high priority and necessity were given the 1.1.3 beta. So how did Nate get his hands on it? Couldn't the same person just give the encryption key as well?

Giving a firmware to testers and such is one thing, but handing out a company's encryption keys to their proprietary software would not only be a breach of contract, I'm sure it's also illegal and someone could get fired and arrested.
