Ok i finally got this to work after getting many 160x errors. I uninstalled itunes 7.7 from add remove programs but not Apple Mobile Device Support (the Driver is still needed) rebooted computer then installed itunes 7.5 then restored the winpwn firmware.

question if I previously used iplus and downgraded to 3.9FB, which option should I use....3.9 or 4.6?

For the ones who are having trouble getting it started, i don't know if this was posted or not but make sure you ctrl+alt+delete and bring up the task manager and stop the "itunes helper" process. It will save you from a lot of errors and time.

Can someone explained why on the Advanced Tab of winpwn, the only options available are activate phone and no wipe? All the other options are grayed out. I cannot check them

my iphone is 1st gen can I update it into 3g using 2.0 3g firmware

erm...no. 3G is purely hardware based (hence the new iphone !!).

I always thought the iPhone got pwned and not iTunes, because in the instructions it say that iTunes will get pwned.

some people have been having an issue with cydia, try unchecking that box and retry it and see if it works...

Itunes does get pwnd, it then allows it to load the unsigned firmware you just made.

Ok, so mine worked and I'm on 2.0 unlocked/jb, BUT there seems to be a few errors with it.

1. The Mail app doesn't load, I press it and it loads a white screen.
2. The Cydia app is there, but when it refreshes, I get an error.
3. It seems I can't delete my email account (restored from before), even after I press delete, it's still there?!

Anybody who has had these problems, please post if you have any idea how to fix them. Please, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I don't know what the hell I've done now, I've got up to the point of putting the phone in DFU Mode, followed it exactly, held both buttons untill screen went black, let go of power but kept home held for around another 10 secs untill iTunes made a noise and a notice poped up but the notice didn't say the phone was in recovery mode, it said "iTunes must check the iPod software update server to identify this device" and it gives 2 buttons to click "Check" or "Cancel", if you click "Check" it then comes up with "An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please Disconnect and Reconnect the iPod, then try again. An Unknown error occurred (-48)" click "Ok" and thats it, nothing else happens and the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes. Now if I try again but click "Cancel" on the first notice that pops up it does nothing aswell and the iPhone Doesn't appear in iTunes. Meanwhile the iPhone still has a black screen and pressing either of the buttons does Nothing so I can't even disconnect and use the phone.

I also have the latest version of iTunes, save anyone from having to ask.

I've now also tried it with itunes 7.5 which then saw my iPhone in DFU Recovery Mode so I held Shift and clicked "Restore", chose my custom firmware but got the 1601 error while it was 'Preparing iPhone for Restore'.
So I went back to iTunes 7.7 which NOW actually sees my iphone in DFU Recovery Mode aswell! unlike before when it was having a fit and wondering wtf this thing was I had connected! So I do the whole restore thing again but 7.7 now gives me the 1601 error while 'Preparing iPhone for Restore' So while I have now managed to get further than before, my 1st gen 2.0 iPhone is still not Unlocked or Jailbroken! I hope theres a fix for this soon.

Error (6) for me too! Buggiest Jailbreak ever! Pwnage Tool for MAC works fine! POOR EFFORT!
