I have a 3G iPhone and it still fails to build the iPSW.... Anyone have any suggestions? I have the newest version, and I've uninstalled the older versions. I also ended iTunesHelper and iPodHelper. :-( I'm lost.

Im having the exact same issue, i even re formatted my pc and winpwn still crashes on me when trying to build ipsw on xp. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP, I WANT TO PWN MY 3G iPHONE

Try using Vista.. I tried on XP 3x and would crash so went bck to vista and with the updated pack Items your good to go... I did mine Yesterday with no issues..

There are several different variations of solutions in here. Not one works, atleast for my phone. I was unlocked with ziphone for 1.1.4. I was able to upgrade to 2.0 stock, I then started completely over. Custom firmware loaded and phone restored. However, for some reason my phone never unlocked. I could not get signal. I then started over again and am in the position I am in now.

I can't restore to custom 1.1.4 or 2.0. I also can't restore to stock 1.1.4 or 2.0. Ziphone nor iLiberty will read my phone. I know it goes into DFU as it loads the driver for it in device manager. I've tried the restores in both DFU mode and normal restore mode, i've also tried downgrading to itunes 7.5 with no luck. I've also tried this on multiple machines varying from XP to Vista.

Everytime I try to restore I get 1601, 1602, 1603, or 1604. The firmware extracts then the phone prepares to restore. Sometimes the screen turns white and then goes to the Apple logo, others it does not. Just about everytime after the error occurs the phone goes to the Apple logo with the circle at the bottom. I've done every single thing in thread. So before you say "zomg lock this thread, it's the end all to problems" you should make sure it works in every scenario. Until then people are going to continue to post in here until they find a solution that works.

Not trying to be a ***** here, but downgrading is useless. Also if youd read even the most recent 10 pages youd see how to combat the 16xx errors. First and easiest way is when the itunes (7.7!!!) is preparing phone for restore you need to unplug the usb and then plug it back in, the 16xx errors are a result from your itunes not reading the phone.!!!!!! If i were you at this point, Id erase anything at all in your pc pertaining to itunes. This means using windows search...... next if youre on XP make sure you have microsoft .net framework 2.0. START FRESH ALL OVER! UNINSTALL EVERYTHING RELATED TO WINPWN, iTUNES, QUICKTIME , all remnants OF THESE PROGRAMS. EVERYTHING!!! shut down all programs in your startup, download itunes 7.7 , winpwn 2.0.0.3 download the bin files. Download a factory 2.0, and delete all old custom files. AGAIN EMPTY YOUR STARTUP!!!! then follow the winown guide 2.0 right atop of this thread!!! in the very beginning!!!! trust me if it doesnt work this is user error and maybe you should reconsider doing this at all.

By The Way: the only process you should stop after pwning itunes and before pwning 2.0 is ituneshelper.exe . You need everything else (which are drivers) to run when restoring.

i winpwn'ed my phone sucessfully not problems except one, i cant check my mail, it wont let me delete my email accounts and whenever i click the mail button it attempts to load and then reboots back to the home screen, any suggestions?

If you havent already you need to install Open SSL in Cydia. Matter of fact you should update and install core utils all together. Then you should reboot your phone, if youre using EDGE (TMobile) go to network and set it up (wap.voicestream.com User: Guest Password:Guest) I had this problem with a couple phones until i remembered to make sure ssl was installed. One phone picked it up like 1/2 a day later. No answer for that, but it just did.. check your package sources in cydia, it should install big boss and many others. That you should get you started on installing apps through CYDIA

Lately no one seems to be confiming they have microsoft .net framework 2.0 installed . This is also a very important part!!!!! It would seem to relate to some of the issues i see.

Just wanted to mention that I am getting the same error at the same place with a 3g iphone on Win XP. Unknown error [6]

When I looked at the itunes log it said:

"unable to create ramdisk"
"restore failed"

The computer had 1.3 GB of available ram. Should be plenty to make a ramdisk.

Any suggestions?

ok guys i was able to complete the process. i was running the 2g 2.0 for about a day, then last night i connected it to itunes and................... my mouth hit the floor. i saw my iphone restart which was no biggie i thought nothing of it. here is the problem my screen shows the Pwned apple then it goes to the restore screen iphonelinux.org peguin. itunes says error 1619. now i have also seen error 6 and 20 any tips or i guess im like a pornstar im f............ed lol. no really help me

Mornin' guys! I followed the instructions to the word and it worked fine. I have windows vista and used winpwn version 2.0.0.3 with the restore version iPhone1,2_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw (instead of iPhone1,1_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw). It pwnd itunes with no problems and jailbroke the phone intalling Cydia. I still miss Installer, as Cydia's apps do not include all the cool apps that installer has. Good look all, just wanted to share my experience :-D Good luck

well i just jailbreak and unlock my 2g iphone with no proplems went very easy go figular i also got a 3g jailbreak but not unlock dont need it unlock just yet.. Good luck to all you guys that are haveing trouble with this..

I've seen so many post asking what needs to be checked in winpwn 2.0.3 if they are at&t subscribers using the 3G phone.

Obviously we should not check youtube fix and not check activate...but what about the other things(upgrade bootloader, downgrade, neuter, yada yada)..can someone please post what they have checked and unchecked for 3G iphone subscribers to at&t? Only the essential things to get 3G jailbroken is what I'm asking for. THANK YOU!

I followed all instructions, and everything works....except youtube. I am an AT&T customer, and I unchecked Youtube fix when I tried to jalilbrea my 2.0 iphone (1st gen). I keep getting an error when I try to get into youtube with a message, "need to connect to itunes with internet...". Youtube fix is suppose to fix this problem before.

After i click the ipsw builder button and the application tab is showing i don't have the same choices as you. My app tab shows a whole lot of category selections on the right and on the left there is an available sources box, and under that is install applications box that is empty. Do i have to search the categories on the right for cydia and select and install it. There are 2 there: Cydia installer 1.0 and Cydia manual refresh. this is different from everyone elses i have seen and i am a little confused by it. Also in the categories columns on the right there tons of mini tabs---such as toys, wallpaper,unlocking tools, multimedia, games and many others. Do i have to install these now to use or what are they there for. So different from other posts i have read and now i am lost.

Here's a guide:

1.) Browse .ipsw first (add 2.0 firmware)
2.) Click ispw builder
a.) Check Cydia / Youtube activation
b.) Add custom images if you have them
c.) I don't know about payloads
d.) Check what you want
Active phone
Wipe everything
Baseband Updater
Neuter Bootloader
Downgrade 3.9
Unlock
Auto delete
e.) Add bootloaders from Here: Bootloaders

3.) Click build ispw
4.) Whe thats finished click iPwner
5.) Enter DFU mode, Here's how Entering DFU Mode
6.) Restore new custom firmware in iTunes by holding shift and clicking restore

at&t subscribers only check cydia and thats it! so uncheck everything except cydia

Anyone know why winpwn (2.0.0.3RC1)is saying that the (iPhone1,1_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw) is an unknown file when i try to load it. Iv been searching half an hour for the answer, to no avail!

which iphone do you have?? If it's the 3G then you don't have the right firmware!!
