winpwn not working for me - Help
I was originally having iPhone 1.1.2 and I used iLiberty+ to activate, unlock and upgrade it to iPhone 1.1.4. I tried using winpwn 2 to upgrade my 1st gen iPhone to iPhone 2.0. These are the steps I followed:
1. Upgraded to iPhone 2.0 using iTunes.
2. Followed the instructions as per winpwn website, created custom ipsw file.
3. Restarted the iPhone in DFU mode, and selected the custom ipsw file.
4. After giving the extraction message, iTunes immediatly gives me the error.
5. I am also unable to restore myiPhone to 1.1.4

There is no room for shortcutting or tweaking the steps guys and as said above, Ive over posted on here just give you every scenario ive come across. For god's sake read over my posts on the previous few pages. pfcfury is absolutely correct, the INFO is all here.
Really should get a new phone BUT you may be able to put it into a "soft DFU" so to speak through ZiPhone or whatever other GUI unlocking tool you use. I used ZiPhone up until 2.0 . Now im not so sure this would work but its worth a shot. Obviously you'd have to be on 1.1.4 or earlier to do so.Last edited by Muggz5; 07-27-2008 at 10:37 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

There are several different variations of solutions in here. Not one works, atleast for my phone. I was unlocked with ziphone for 1.1.4. I was able to upgrade to 2.0 stock, I then started completely over. Custom firmware loaded and phone restored. However, for some reason my phone never unlocked. I could not get signal. I then started over again and am in the position I am in now.
I can't restore to custom 1.1.4 or 2.0. I also can't restore to stock 1.1.4 or 2.0. Ziphone nor iLiberty will read my phone. I know it goes into DFU as it loads the driver for it in device manager. I've tried the restores in both DFU mode and normal restore mode, i've also tried downgrading to itunes 7.5 with no luck. I've also tried this on multiple machines varying from XP to Vista.
Everytime I try to restore I get 1601, 1602, 1603, or 1604. The firmware extracts then the phone prepares to restore. Sometimes the screen turns white and then goes to the Apple logo, others it does not. Just about everytime after the error occurs the phone goes to the Apple logo with the circle at the bottom. I've done every single thing in thread. So before you say "zomg lock this thread, it's the end all to problems" you should make sure it works in every scenario. Until then people are going to continue to post in here until they find a solution that works.

I have a 3G iPhone and it still fails to build the iPSW.... Anyone have any suggestions? I have the newest version, and I've uninstalled the older versions. I also ended iTunesHelper and iPodHelper. :-( I'm lost.

Hello everyone.
I have a problem
I tried to upgrade to 2.0 with WinPwn i did everything like the FAQ here said,
WinPwn 2.0
- Support for both 1.1.4 and 2.0
- Custom Image Support
- Custom Payload Support
- 3g iPhone support
2.0 How to:
- 1) First create a custom IPSW using the IPSW Builder.
- 2) Click "Ipwner" and browse for the custom IPSW that you just created. This will pwn itunes and allow you to flash
Custom IPSW files via DFU mode
- 3) Once you have pwned Itunes, put your phone into DFU mode. If you don't know how to do this click
Here.
- 4) Once you are in DFU mode Itunes will pop up and then you can hold shift and click restore and browse to your custom IPSW file.
Done!
Important Notes
Remove Winpwn 1.0 completely if you have it installed. Installing over the top of WinPwn 1.0 will cause problems.
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes ( Currently 7.7)
If you already have service with AT&T do not activate or install Youtube Fix
Thanks again for all those who supported me. WinPwn was made possible by PlanetBeing, Squpix and the dev team ( Especially Wizdaz, MuscleNerd, Gray, Pumpkin, bgm, roxfan ). I will be updating WinPwn with some better features and upgrading the credits and help sections over the next few days.
Much love
cmw
BUT NOW!!! it was halfway trough when it crashed (first itunes then my pc >.<)
Now its stuck in the recovery mode?! (i see the Itunes logo + the usb)
Its complete stuck wont do anything, if i take if from the docking station it keep going on, off, on, off etc and when on docking it stays on. (i think its the 2.0 firmware recovery screen becouse the the usb picture is a usb connector, and not the ipod/iphone connector!!)
Only think what works is if i restore it in Itunes with the originial firmware (so no holding shift) but then the problem is when it turns on its locked.
I tried to do the emergency call -> *#301# etc to unlock it. (Unlock the iPhone - the simple tutorial!)
but that doesnt work... (maybe becouse its firmware 2.0?)
Im getting real desperate.. i dont have an Apple store nearby (i live in the Netherlands, Europe) aaw wel we do have an apple store but they dont have any Iphone's (1st gen's) so going to an apple store isnt really an option!
Kind regards
Dave
