I ask again! Please any T-mobile users, that are using a Gen.1, or 2G phone...What did you select in the advanced options page? So far i am clicking it all, and downgrading to 3.9
Does it matter what you do hear? 3.9 or 4.6? What one is better and will it brick the phone if you have one or the other? I am guessing no becasue their is both their, but again...What do you have, and what worked?
I am t-mobile...I use my phone! lol I have a Blackberry internet pack for 19.99...Help..
If you look at the other post, you'll see that i tryed every thing..
Please, and thank you! please and thank you!Last edited by 97vrsix; 07-25-2008 at 02:42 PM.

@ PFCFURY -
When you received the Error (6) did you re-do the entire process, or just the Restore of the custom IPSW file? I've received the error 6 twice now, and was going to try it on a different PC.
# EASYCASH - In this post, you say you "Left click" and click on the "compatibility" option. You must have meant "Right click" unless you're using an inverted mouse setup.

Ok upon restore custom 2.0 when i made the file I checked everything to the note that was stated on the winpwn 2.0 guide linked atop the beginning of this thread. I downloaded all the files directly from what he provided. No variations!
Installed 7.7 then changed the startup ( > run> msconfig > startup) I unchecked all startup pertaining to itunes, Quick Time, Etc. and rebooted. I then installed winpwn, created custom file, checking everything that was suggested in the guide at the beginning of the thread. Then pwned itunes.
I then went to emergency screen mode and did the 7 sec. DFU mode. It didnt go in correctly. So i re-pwned itunes again. Opened it back up , switched to dfu through the 7 sec. emergency dial process, and it registered I clicked shift+ restore custom firmware and just made a few calls on it!!!! working fine. TMobile, XP, followed guide no deviations!
That means you didnt get into DFU correctly. Its not registering in itunes. Shut down itunes, shut down itunes helper.exe in proccesses (Task MGR> proccesses> ituneshelper.exe) then make sure your phone is in locked, unactivated screen, that scrolls different languages on the slider. unlock slider open itunes, open winpwn, pwn itunes again. re open itunes, put into dfu mode via 7 second release method. and shift+restore that should do it. Continue this if it doesnt work... If your phone cant go to that home screen im talking about Id reccomend doing an itunes legal 2.0 update first and starting all over.Last edited by Muggz5; 07-25-2008 at 03:03 PM. I accidently put my phone into restore mode instead of DFU. Can I get out of the restore mode without restoring? - I also get Error 6 in iTunes as well but it's probably because i'm in restore mode not DFU.
Anyone got any ideas?

Unfortunately I dont have an answer for you, ive been doing this on 1st gen. phones. However which indicator is it? Is it the slide to unlock "plug into itunes" or is just the black screen nothing else besides plug into itunes? If it is with the slider, slide it and it should go to the emergency call only keypad. And then repeat your pwning itunes, and DFU mode proccess and it should at least attempt to work. If its the black screen restore (just the plug and itunes logo), Reopen itunes and restore & update factory settings. Thats about the only advice I have. MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING 3G Firmware, not 1st gen firmware. Its a major difference.

Here is what I was running when I tried this...
Windows Vista
16Gig 1.1.4 2g iPhone Jailbroke, unlocked with ZiPhone... Running a vodaphone (germany) sim card.
I used Winpwn 2.0 and followed the instructions...
I received no issues discussed on this thread.
Prior to me trying this I completely uninstalled and deleted all prev. Itunes folders except for my iTunes music folder which I left in its default location. I took my sync data file that iTunes created and put it on a thumb drive. Then I ran BCWipe to erace the files permanently that I deleted. I rebooted and installed iTunes 7.7 with no issues.
I then prepped my iPhone by creating a backup of my data using ibrickr_v0.91 and iPhone_Pc_Suite_by_iSpazio (I did two back-ups by two different programs....yup I am one of thoes guys that has lost an entire H/D and learned my lesson).
I installed winpwn 2.0 and followed the instructions. About 30 min later I was able to receive an incoming call from work. I also called out with no problem. I ran through the apps and they all worked with no problems.
I synced with iTunes and all my contacts and calendar info was installed perfectly.
After about three hours I decided to go back to 1.1.4!!!! Why you ask?!? Well while I like some of the new features none of them match up to Installer and all the freeware and my lovely summerboard. Not to mention being able to edit all .psd images with windows and directly place them into the iphone and enjoy the personalized look.
I also have a 3g that doesnt get much use. (not my cup of tea). The reason for this is because I own and have grown a custom to the better quality of the hardware 2g (except for the recessed headphone jack).
For those of you that are having issues upgrading your 2g here is my advise.
DO NOT UPGRADE YET, PERIOD DOT
The features are not all that when you stack them up against all the "bug" less apps out there. Wait a while.... The iPhone stand alone is good but with installer the option of personalizing your 2g with only limitation being your imagination makes 1.1.4 a Great phone!
Patients is bliss my iPhone lovers. perfection will come and my predictions are in about a month we will enjoy and one click GUI hack like Ziphone or simpler pwn. Not to mention Installer and hundreds of software available to us.
Hate the wait for the problem free hack! But enjoy what you have now, and thank the poster if you see fit.

Ive also been reading if youre getting the error 6 to keep shutting down itunes and re-pwning it and attempting a custom restore but I may be wrong i never encountered the 6 error. I was one who had 1600-1604 errors over and over, occasionally a 1500 error. I have tried when stuck in restore to shut the phone off completely. It takes a few tries, but once the phone is completely off (and connected USB) < this is important because when its off and you connect it, it will turn back on. Then I hold power and home button (AFTER pwning itunes) for 10 seconds (1 one thousand, 2 one thousand.....) release power holding home until it registers in itunes then release. You might try restoring custom 2.0 from this point, I never was successful with it, but it is another way to get into DFU mode, when stuck in restore.

mmkay well this is bizarre, are you Shift+Restoring, or are you click restoring? Id try to download a 3G legal 2.0 firwmware from one of the dev teams blogs, or reboot the PC and try the factory update again. If none of these work, Id also try my hardest to get the phone to turn off and try the 10 second DFU i was talking about. again Ive been doing this on 1st gen. not 3G Also I might reccommend uninstalling itunes, uninstalling winpwn, removing ALL traces via windows search of these 2 items. Downloading the new 2.0.0.3 version of winpwn etc etc. I havent tried the new new version as I didnt need it. Are you running XP or Vista? if XP is .net framework 2.0 installed? check "add/remove programs" to see.
Above all though I agree, I do like the fact I can use 2.0 now on T Mobile, but I miss customizing absolutely everything On my 1.1.4 before this process started yesterday. Installer is on the way as i can see, and I was able last night after a few attempts to log in with Winscp. But still need customize and summerboard to change a few things. I just couldnt lose to the programming gods and wanted to pwn, now i iwish id waited until more was released including above mentioned programs. The NES is much much cooler though, thats been fun. The way things install etc etc the interface is sweeeet! AND EXCHANGE SERVER!!!! whooohooooooooooo thats been what ive been missing since i went from blackberry to iphone 6 months ago. The simport feature is cool and I like cydia. BossTool is already out and I ran that smoothly. I want to do a new thread for reviews, this is just too much fun!
All in all 2 out of 3 phones successful after many attempts on Vista, 1 first attempt fresh PC with nothing prior installed on XP first try! these were done on 2.0.0.2.Last edited by Muggz5; 07-25-2008 at 04:28 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

2.0.0.3
The new 2.0.0.3 Version works flawlessly.
For all those people who had 1600, 1601 etc errors, give it a shot.

I'm not sure if it has been posted already but to all those who are having issues pwning a 3g iphone on Vista follow the following instructions taken from here
I'm not sure if the url & quote tags will work since I don't post here often. This is exactly what I did, and it worked. I had the same problem as all of you.
Right now, you should be using Winpwn 2.0.0.2 and already have made a custom firmware. But you are stuck because iPwner gives you a signal that WinPwn has stopped working.
Now:
Uninstall 2.0.0.2 and install 2.0.0.1 found here:
http://rapidshare.de/files/40068012/win ... p.zip.html
Run the program, browse for ipsw (The original one from Apple), then click iPwner.
It should say that iTunes has been successfully pwned. But your not done.
Download this file: download/file.php?id=44
and use it to replace the one found in this folder (in Vista, not sure if its the same for XP): C:UsersYOUR USERNAMEAppDataRoamingApple ComputeriTunesDevice Support
After that, use put iPhone to DFU mode, then use the newly pwned iTunes to recover it. Select the custom recovery file you created before with 2.0.0.2 and it should work.
Hope this helps,
Eva
