OMFG I love you (no homo) I followed everything and it finally worked. OMG I am so happy, I've been up since 8AM this morning till now. I think the whole problem too was it was never really going into DFU mode, It was just flashing connect to iTunes and would never work, kept getting error 6.
BUT NOW IT WORKS!!!

GUYS DO THIS:
(for original iPhone only)
Make sure it is in proper DFU mode!!
plug in to itunes, it will pop up with the "set up your AT&T plan," etc.
now hold the sleep button and the home button until the screen goes blank, then let go of the sleep button but keep holding the home button until you hear the lovely noise that means it just connected to the computer (the ba-DA sound) and it pops up in itunes that an iphone in recovery mode has been connected and you must restore. Then all you have to do is hold shift and click restore and click your custom firmware. Now it should work!
If you make your custom firmware that way it will. Make sure you select "unlock baseband" when building your ipsw. You must also select "enable baseband update" and "neuter bootloader 3.9/4.6" to be able to select "unlock baseband"Last edited by xwinger; 07-25-2008 at 03:33 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
