hmmm... can't get it to work... either on mac or PC... Cydia is still alittle buggy too. I uninstalled the IE7 icon mod and now i have no edge icon whatsoever and i can't reinstall the IE7 icon.

as for 3proxy im sure it does work but it doesn't for me

i miss tinyproxy it was so much easier
I tethered my 1st gen iPhone with no problems... and i totally abused it downloaded whole programs which took most of the night and morning because of the slow speeds... AT&T never caught on and if they did they probably didn't give a damn

As much as they act sometimes, AT&T isn't just a bunch of idiots proving a service. They can and know how you use their service, and tethering is really easy to tell.

You should read the guide first before posting a question like this...

You have to install 3proxy on your iPhone (as stated in the guide). The IP address is simply the IP of the wifi connection. In windows, in the internet connection dialog box set the SOCKS server proxy to that IP.

On Local Area Network Settings:

1. select Bypass proxy server for local address
2. click the advanced button
3. in the Socks field add your iPhone IP address and port 1080

They can tell because of traffic emanating from ports not associated with native iPhone apps. SOCKS doesn't encrypt packets, it simply sets up a one-way firewall and forwards packets through it. Also, some idiot will probably setup a bittorrent transfer through the tether. That's the net equivalent of firing a gun inside a police station.

JC... Why can't you use Google? The first hit simply searching for "tether" is: Tether - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and read the first paragraph.

A tether is a cord that anchors something movable to a stationary point. People, if you don't know what a term means look it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop posting "I don't know what #### is..." It's annoying. A 2 second google search is all that is needed.
