Delete Pwnage Tools and reinstall if bootloader files are not being loaded.
I cannot for the life of me get Pwnage to ask me for the bootloader files. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app numerous times from all 3 sources. Any ideas??

ATTENION WINDOWS USERS!!!! If you can't wait for winpwn, I had success with this method here. It's pretty easy to do. » Pwnage option for Windows Users - iPhone News & Review I take no credit for this, just saying it worked great for me and hopefully for you too!

Try this method out, it worked great for me. Only thing I did different was, I used iliberty+ to put my phone into reg. restore mode, instead of using ziphone. Worked good though, here's the link: » Pwnage option for Windows Users - iPhone News & Review Good luck!!

there you go again like ziphone is why they have issues. Windows users regardless of how u unlocked ur phone, install bootneuter and neuter ur phone before you begin the process. Then get the custom firmware and restore with iTunes. Works like a charm.

Finally jailbroken 2.0 on my 1st Gen Iphone

Success Story !!

I had a jailbroken Iphone on 1.1.4 firmware using Ziphone. I had updated my phone after 2.0 came out.

The original release of Pwnage never worked for me ... they are out with PwnageTool 2.0.1

From their site
Quote:
* It auto-finds the bl39 and bl46 files better, if they’re on your computer
* It creates the ~/Library/iTunes/Device Support/ folder if not present, which should help with some 1600 errors people have been having.
* Many people have reported the PwnageTool not starting up at all (the icon never stops bouncing). This issue should be resolved now.
* The Sparkle AppCast URL is fixed in this version, so automatic updates should work for future releases.
Steps followed by me:
Iphone should not be connected to your MAC for the first few steps.
Select Expert Mode
1. In general tab, uncheck Activate Iphone (if u r on ATT)
2. Bootneuter - Uncheck Unlock
3. Select whatever you want from Cydia Packages. I just needed the Cydia installer and sources and Open SSH of course.
4. Hit Build and save ur ipsw file
After the ipsw file is created, the tool prompts you to connect the Iphone to ur MAC.
5. Follow the steps to get ur phone in DFU mode and simply do a (Option/Alt)+ Restore -- Select ur ipsw and enjoy the happiness.

Ok
Me too i was on 1.1.4 ziphoned 16gb iphone on t-mobile. All the steps went smooth i had a liitle glitch in the dfu part but after that it was golden. then after the phone did the unlock thingy that took about 4 to 5 minutes and phone did not work right. the antenna bars for signal strength kept going up an down to no service and every call i made said call failed. and i though shoot i really broke the phone this time. but then I connected it to itunes and restored it with my last user profile. (NOT RESORE AGAIN USING THE IPSW but restore like poetic said to in the guide sync to make sure all is updated and the run the pwange tool. after retoring everything worked great. THIS GUIDE WORKS!!

Another thing BL-39 and BL-46 bin files were on my desktop as was the pwange tool application. When doing the guides the pwange tool did not ask me to locate the files i think it first looks at the directory the pwange tool application is located and sees the files there If the application or files were in different directories then I think it would have asked to look for it on line or your hardrive.

DFU Mode is a must. Recovery mode is when you see the iTunes logo and a connect to Itunes with the USB on the screen. I got the same errors in iTunes (6) (1600)... That is because your phone is NOT in DFU mode, it is in Recovery Mode. DFU mode is seen when iTunes thinks you are in Recovery mode, yet the iPhone screen is black. Getting to this mode is tricky, it takes a few times. Try to release the power key just before you see the apple logo, not after. If you do it after, you will be in Recovery mode not DFU mode.

Once you are in DFU mode, the process works JUST AS LISTED>>>>>>>>>

Thanks for the help but I've tried that still with no luck. Last night I tried proceeding anyway without that step and I had temporarily bricked my phone, but I got it back to 2.0 non jailbroken.

Does anybody know a fix for getting Pwnage to ask for the bootloader files?

Another Success Story

I thought I’d write and say THANKS to the Dev Team and Poetic Folly for the absolutely wonderful PWNAGE app and tutorial.

I wasn’t going to upgrade until I heard about a few success stories first, but I got to the point where my phone was staring at me, taunting me ~Upgrade Me~… So I jumped in with both feet and took the plunge. No guts no glory eh?

I was a little worried about PWNAGE working on a Hackintosh running Leoprad, but there were no problems as a result (PWNAGE opened fine). The only confussion was whether or not to keep iTunes open while opening PWNAGE (PF didn’t specify). The answer is yes, you want to have iTunes open while going through PWNAGE and building the firmware (please correct me if I’m wrong, this worked for me). There was one hick-up during installation but that was the crappy HD I was using, it errored out a couple of times, so I saved my new firmware directly onto a 2 gig Flash Drive instead. Everything else worked like a charm and I am now running 2.0 on my first Gen Phone.

T-Mobile: Working

Edge (T-Zones): Working (You have to load OpenSSH first, then the T-Zones Patch in ‘Tweaks’. (From Cydia of course.) Once loaded, power down the phone. Turn back on and type ‘wap.voicestream.com’ in the APN field (Settings>General>Network>Cellular Data Network>APN) No password needed. Keep in mind you have to pay $5.99 per month for T-Zones to work, otherwise you will not see the ‘Cellular Data Network’ field.)

YouTube: Working

Locate Me: Working (I was surprised about this one)

App Store / Apps: Working (WiFi and Edge)

SMS: Working

After having gone through this, feel free to ask me any questions you have.

Thanks again Dev Team and Poetic Folly for making my weekend.

Sincerely
Wudstock
